‘Die Hard’ Isn’t Your Typical Christmas Movie, But It’s The Best
KHITS 104.3 ^ | 12/21/16 | John Calhoun

Posted on 12/21/2016 11:51:47 AM PST by Sybeck1

McClane just arrived from New York to spend Christmas with his estranged wife Holly (Bonnie Bedelia) in Los Angeles. As he waits for her office Christmas party to break up, terrorists take over the building. The late Alan Rickman is superb as the terrorist leader Hans Gruber.

Billed as 40 Stories Of Sheer Adventure, the film does not disappoint. There’s plenty of action, along with humor and warm, fuzzy moments too.

Of course, the original Lethal Weapon is also a Christmas movie.

I was coming up on 20, not much of a Moonlighting fan, barely knew who Bruce Willis was when my friends said, "Let's go the theater and see Die Hard."

We all left the theater a few hours later in full agreement that that was the best thing we'd thing on the big screen since Star Wars. There hadn't been anything like it and after Die Hard, Hollywood couldn't churn out Xerox copies fast enough.

” We’re gonna need some more FBI guys.” That was a funny line.

I believe that Speed was pitched as "Die Hard on a bus."

Pretty much the same here, except I was in my mid 20’s.

I walked out thinking:

1. That was simply awesome.
2. Who is this Alan Rickman dude? That’s as good a bad guy as I ever saw.

If someone walked into my house and began to use some of the language on that movie they would be shown the door real quick, and not invited back.

I also found it to be a great workout video on the treadmill or elliptical machine. Plenty of action to keep your mind off the exercise.

For a different side of Rickman check out, “The Song Of Lunch”.
