It's been 35 years since director Ridley Scott's sci-fi classic Blade Runner hit the screens.
Now the first teaser from the long-awaited sequel, Blade Runner 2049 has dropped.
And, judging from Monday's 106-second glimpse, it promises to be every bit as dark and dystopian as the original.

I’d like to be optimistic, but belated sequels to classics always suck.
ALWAYS.
I believe part of the sub-plot of the original movie was the question: “Is Harrison Ford actually a replicant?”
Since replicants don’t live very long, I guess ol’ Harrison Ford must be one of them humans.
Gosling sucked in The Nice Guys. I hope replicants kill him in the end..
If the time skip is big enough, this might put to rest the rumors that Deckard was a replicant himself (something that was implied was the case in the first movie), unless he was some kind of custom job that didn’t have the artificially-short lifespan; given that we don’t see Rachel in the trailer, she may have already “died”, and it’s unlikely that Tyrell would have given Deckard an extended life but not her.
But will Sean Young return? I was sooo in love. Especially in real life, Crazy in the head . . .
Don’t forget reprehensible reboots like RoboCOP, Judge Dredd, and, dare I say, Dukes of Hazard!
Oh, I dunno. Tron: Legacy wasn’t so bad. Also, Fury Road was a tremendous follow-on to the originals.
I think replicants were programmed specifically not to live long, not that they couldn’t...right?
Since replicants dont live very long, I guess ol Harrison Ford must be one of them humans.
If the time skip is short (given how much Harrison Ford has aged) then they can show Deckard was a replicant.
Harrison Ford doesn’t have a good track record with belated sequels either.
And Ryan Gosling?!? Are they making a sequel to Blade Runner or are they making a Blade Runner themed RomCom chick flick?
“Since replicants dont live very long, I guess ol Harrison Ford must be one of them humans.”
Most replicants don’t live very long. The prototypes that Tyrell designed before he died, like the one played by Sean Young, had no expiration dates. If Ford was one of those prototypes, he wouldn’t have an expiration date either.
"The light that burns twice as bright burns half as long."
I was a little confused about this point in the movie. On the one hand they described the short life expectancy as a fail safe, but on the other Tyrell went through several reasons why they couldn't extend Roy's life - maybe they couldn't extend a replicant's life after it was created. But if that was the case, what was so special about Rachel?
Which one?
“its unlikely that Tyrell would have given Deckard an extended life but not her”
Tyrell did give Rachael an extended lifespan. She may have died of unnatural causes though, especially since she was probably being hunted down.
Yep, every bit as dark. As a matter of fact it was a black screen with soundtrack from the original movie. How is that a trailer?
at their age, shoukldn’t it be called “Blade Shuffler” or “Blade Crawler”
