Also, they have a march of a platoon of Stormtroopers led by Captain Plasma and one can get a photo with Kylo Ren.
I heard it’s a VERY diverse cast and a possibly gay female couple :)
How about the ACTUAL movie. Was it good?
I saw it and loved it. Blew episode 7 out of the water.
I wonder how stomach-turning the GRRL PWR is. The last one was almost unwatchable.
Diverse, yes. There was a white guy somewhere in there if you count a reptilian creature with a locust valley lockjaw accent
Was it good? A lot of shooting. Camera A waayy too close up to two hours of scuffling, shooting some girl pouting. I could not stay awake. My kid says it was a good movie. Was waiting for Dark Helmet to call for a ten minute break for coffee.
No idea
155 Million Globally may not mean much. They suppress this is the Global take from thousands if not hundreds of thousands of theaters around the globe.
However as most people have said, the third act was Pretty Damn Awesome.
Spoilers (Highlight to read)"Carrie Fisher only looks Twice her age, instead of three times like in real life! Ah, the horrors of CGI."
I will say, they do have to be careful not turning the Stormtroopers into Team Rocket.
It is fun watching them get shot down, but they still need to be menacing. This movie and the Force Awakens needed to dial back the Comedy with the Stormtroopers a bit (yes yes I know the Ewoks in ROTJ, but that is the worst part of the Original Trilogy and a George Lucas idea)
(((YAWN)))
Actually it was probably the best of the Star Wars movies — maybe on the same ground as Empire. I may be blasted for that statement, but it was really great. No cute Ewoks, no stupid Jar-Jar. It was more like a fast paced war movie like the Dirty Dozen, Guns of Navarone or Where Eagles Dare.
Darth Vader was just plain scary — now you know why everyone was afraid of him. This was a movie by fans for fans. As for the overhyped “gay couple”, it is never really stated. It was two guys who fought together for many years — their relationship was more like brothers in arms, not gay. Hopefully people won’t get wrapped around the axle about that.
I don't wish to be a "spoiler", but there are a couple of very impressive "technical effects" that might astound you.
I saw it on the big screen at home, attached to my son’s computer.
The movie sucked...and not just because the guy who recorded it at the movie theater was coughing every once in a while (that was actually kind of funny). No, it sucked because the screenplay was just awful. Geez, bring Lucas back. Glad I didn’t waste $12/ticket on this garbage.
Saw it Friday. Great flick.
If you’re a star wars nerd, there is plenty to smile about towards the end of the movie as they casually reference a ton of b-string characters from the original Star Wars movie.
For those who don’t know, this story takes place just before the original Star Wars (episode 4) and it’s basically the tale of how the rebels obtain the technical plans of the death star, and its single weakness.
I saw it yesterday, i’m kinda thinking the reshoots heard about were to RID any of the Hollywood embedded political undertones inserted. It was good but even in a good theatre the film quality sucked, cannot wait to see it on my 4K widescreen.
I might call this Episode 3.75, merged very well into A New Hope. At least they didn’t Star Trek alt timeline it.
If anything it would have sent a different message say if Hillary had won, that she would have been the Empire and Trump and the Deplorables were the resistance. The message being a green light to do whatever it demanded to fight the Empire, even if it wasn’t all white and shiny. It was war. People die.
People died for a cause, they didn’t whine from their safe spaces or universities. They volunteered for suicide missions. I’d like to ask a bunch of millenials if they would go on a suicide mission.
I would not say it was the best, but it was better than Episode 7.
Saw it Friday night and it was quite enjoyable. Yes, there is the obligatory PC rainbow of characters, but I completely missed the gay angle - just wasn’t there that I saw.
If you haven’t gone yet, my only alert would be to NOT bother going to a 3D showing. We did so and commented afterward that the 3D was quite lacking. My son did some poking around on the internet and saw that, apparently, it wasn’t filmed with 3D cameras so it doesn’t make that big a difference.
Total trash. Don’t waste your money if you haven’t already.
Didn't spot any hidden propaganda or weird stuff - just a good, solid adventure movie.
Will definitely buy the DVD when it comes out.
Saw it with the kids lastnight. 3D IMAX. My daughter popped for the tickets for some car work her brother and I did for her Saturday. If you see it in 3D try to keep your head from tilting to keep the image sharp around the edges.
I saw the original Star Wars when it first came out in theaters but I’m not a fanatic (anymore;). I say go see it, it’s visually stunning and the plot is entertaining enough to spend a message of confidence in the election outcome.
Wife & I went to see this film yesterday.
LOVED IT!!!
