Texas Pastor Goes to Mall, Tells Kids Santa Isn't Real
NBC Bay Area ^ | 12/12

Posted on 12/12/2016 4:12:09 PM PST by nickcarraway

A widely-shared video posted to YouTube Saturday appears to show a pastor, who's well known for previous public protests, telling kids waiting in line at an Amarillo mall that Santa isn't real.

In the video, a man identifying himself as David Grisham of "Last Frontier Evangelism" said, "We're going to tell the children here today the truth that there is no Santa Claus and that Christmas is about Jesus Christ."

Grisham has previously gained notoriety in 2010 for attempting to burn a copy of the Quran in an Amarillo park, NBC News reported. He was thwarted by a 23-year-old skateboarder who grabbed the Muslim holy book from Grisham.

In Saturday's video, Grisham walked up to a line of parents and kids waiting to see Santa and yelled, "There is no such thing as Santa Claus. Santa Claus does not exist."

The video ends with several parents confronting Grisham and asking him to leave. "Shut up," one parent says.

Another asks Grisham to "quit talking this mess."

"There is a Santa," someone shouts.

One Facebook page for Last Frontier Evangelism appeared to be unavailable Monday morning, but another page for the group had shared the video with the comment: "Mark Zuckerberg and his band of GESTAPO censors at Facebook took down the original of this post."

While not mentioned in Saturday's video, Grisham is also the director of "Repent Amarillo," according to the Amarillo Globe-News. That organization has been categorized as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Making little kids sad and/or confused.

Yeah, God and Jesus want that.

And look at the number of converts to Christianity he created!!!

God weeps and idiots like this doing evil in His name.

I’m guessing he’s a pastor of the Westboro variety?

It can be traumatizing to be told Santa isn't real.

I had to skip work the next day.

If this is true, it is an unnecessary attack; Christianity has enough enemies that it need not make any more, and attacking Santa makes many more.

Personal story: one December when my son was just turning 3, he waddled up to me one day in his soon-to-be-grown-out-of diaper, and asked if there really was a Santa Claus. I calmly told him that Santa Claus was someone we made up to help us celebrate Jesus’ birthday (in later years we got more deeply into the St. Nicholas aspect). He waddled away and then 10 minutes later he waddled back to tell me all the things Santa was going to get him for Christmas. Three-year-olds are incapable of conceiving of a being that is defined but does not exist, and for him Santa was real enough. He turns 32 Wednesday, and is perfectly fine—and he knows all about Santa Claus, and St. Nicholas, and most importantly about how Christ’s sacrifice has saved him from the power of sin, death, and Satan.

My kids ( 21 to 35 years old) are not allowed to tell Mom there is no Santa. They don’t want to break her heart.

You can include both .. I’ll never forget when my oldest son got let in on the Santa mystery - as he helped wrap up his brother’s Christmas presents.

The whole time he was doing it he had this wonderful smile on his face; and then all of a sudden he turned and looked at me .. “you’re Santa aren’t you ..??” As I smiled at him, I told him all parents are Santa Clause.

Actually, he learned that’s why some children get more presents than others. It’s not because the children are bad, it’s because the parents don’t have the extra money.

You can teach great lessons, you don’t have to make a jerk of yourself in a public place and shatter all the dreams of the children. They will grow up soon enough .. let them enjoy the Santa-years.

And .. my son’s journey through Santa-mystery never stopped him from receiving Christ .. nor did it stop him from graduating from a wonderful Bible School where he was trained to be a children’s Pastor.

Repent Amarillo
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
(Redirected from David Grisham)
Repent Amarillo is a small Amarillo, Texas-based political and quasi-religious group which advocates for the “spiritual mapping” and targeting of specific local areas and venues in order to exorcise “demons” from those areas. Because of the group’s tactics and targeting of perceivably-vulnerable minorities, the group has gained infamy from critics who identify the organization as a hate group or a Christian analogy for the Lebanese militant group[1] Hezbollah (lit. “Army of God”). They have also been likened to a cult, and compared widely with Westboro Baptist Church.

The group is led by former Department of Energy security guard and self-designated pastor David Grisham.

Not gonna be popular here but I never lied to my children.

I was the one that had to spank them or correct them when they did wrong so no fictitious character was going to steal my thunder when they got rewarded.

That gift to you, your mom and I sacrificed so you could have that.

This ‘pastor’ may know the facts (law) but he definitely lacks the SPIRIT! He is a modern Pharisee and has lost sight of the need for love and spirit. Santa Claus is emblematic of the desire to give and share in this season of the Birth! This ‘pastor’ sews the seed of anger and disruption, which are Satan’s not God’s seeds!

Yup, same here...

In my house telling a lie was akin to the worst thing you could do...

Mommy or daddy lying about Santa would make us huge hypocrites...

My late husband and I did the same thing. We wanted our son to know that what he had came from us, not some fairy.

That said, the grandparents talked up the Santa thing. I think it was a lost cause for us.

I would never have pushed our beliefs on some one else’s child. The pastor should have preached to his own congregation and left everyone else alone.
