Looks like this beaver was quite eager to do some holiday "shopping."
The rodent was found looking at Christmas trees at a Dollar General store in Charlotte Hall, Maryland, this past Monday, according to Jennifer Stone, public information officer for the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office.
"The beaver just walked right in through the front door," Stone told ABC News today.

Maybe the BEAVER smelled the scent of pine and thought he was going into a forest, not the DOLLAR GENERAL store.

Maybe a relative?
This is a Beaver dam/pond was taken in the fall in the Adirondacks of upstate NY. The Beaver apparently left one tree alone for Christmas

Extremely nocturnal animals seen during the day = possible rabies.

I have a huge beaver pond on my property that must support a dozen beavers. I have NEVER seen one during the day, ever. Not once ever.

There were beavers in a park lake near me until earlier this year. I saw an adult on several occasions and a juvenile once, all in the daytime.
