I have a friend who is very intelligent and talented. However when it comes to politics he is a diehard Democrat who IMO doesn't seem to look at the whole picture. He likes to refer to Republicans as "Reds". Well judge for yourself as here is something he wrote today.
"Reds are upside down on every question. Affordable healthcare is bad, Russia is good, our allies not so much. Cutting taxes and over spending on unnecessary military equipment is a good idea. Civil rights are bad. Reducing the population by 10 percent is a good idea. Launching multiple Trade wars with nations that lend us money is a good idea. The president should tell private enterprise how to run their companies. Its just flat out nuts."
Anyone have any suggestions on how to respond? Just a reminder that the last paragraph was his, not mine.
It can’t be done. They have a faulty premise (often more than one) and use faulty thinking to come to the conclusion that they cannot understand how anything would ever, ever work in a way they do not understand. They do not understand nor even comprehend it possible that many things work in ways they do not understand. That’s because they must at all costs arrive at a conclusion they they are superior. To you.
When you argue with liberals, you are not arguing a single intellectual point or a single opinion. You are trying all at the same time to (1) take on a defective method of thinking, (2) argue against their “hate America” attitude, and (3) their unconscious internal need to feel superior both morally and intellectually. That is all the way before you (4) get to the actual point under discussion. It is exactly like trying to take on 4 street thugs in a fight; with the intention of being polite and following a single line of thought and avoiding ad hominems etc; etc; Any careful evaluation of the situation should result in a conclusion that you run away.
It is not possible.
Russia is good, our allies not so much. Of what good is France? Of what good is Great Britain. They have let the sworn enemy of Islam infiltrate and destroy their culture. Russia has recognized the enemy and shunned it. How is that a bad thing?
Cutting taxes and over spending on unnecessary military equipment is a good idea.
Cutting taxes is good. It's called 'trickle down' economics and it works. OVER spending on military equipment is idiotic but STRENGTHENING our military is GOOD. Those are two entirely different things.
Civil rights are bad.
Where does that come from? What Conservative have you ever talked to who stated that? Moron.
Reducing the population by 10 percent is a good idea.
And so...what exactly does a pro-abortion position hope to accomplish? Please...elucidate and explain.
Launching multiple Trade wars with nations that lend us money is a good idea.
Non sequitur. What exactly are you talking about? Is this the same largument as "Trump is a racist"?
The president should tell private enterprise how to run their companies. Its just flat out nuts."
No...It is not 'nuts'. But when corporations engage in policies and practices that hurt and damage the USA...then the president has an obligation to step up and say "ENOUGH!". Do some research. Look up PATCO. Moron. And then...do some research on what the word 'Incorporation' means and entails. Moron.
1. "Affordable" healthcare = rationed healthcare.
2. What is the issue with Russia? In the only war we ever had that involved Russia, we were fighting on the same side.
3. No clue what that guy means by "allies." I don't guess he's paid much attention over the last 8 years when Obama treated them like dirt.
4. Cutting taxes works. Study the Laffer curve.
5. Either spend on a strong military, or get sucked into endless conflict. Personally, I'd rather have a strong military that no one wants to attack.
6. I guess this guy is unaware that the Democrat party has always been against civil rights? Or that playing one ethnic group against another is not a "civil rights" issue?
7. I guess this guy is unaware that the left has always been about killing off people? Abortion, euthanasia, killing people who speak up against the state...
8a. We shouldn't be borrowing from other nations under any circumstance, for several reasons.
8b. It is not a trade war to say that trade must occur on fair and equitable terms. We only lose by letting other countries profit off of us.
9. There is no worry that the president will be telling companies how to conduct their business, because Hillary is not the president-elect. Thank God.
Ask him to explain his views. His head will explode.
Long story short, one evening I had enough of his commie cr@p - I never spared the intellect to shut him down before. I logic trapped him with something he was emotionally attached.
He took a swing at me while we were having dinner at a restaurant.
done
Funny how they used to luuuuuuv “Mother Russia”, isn’t it?
Off the top of my head...I can't recall but I've heard it.
Though, my favorite that does apply would be...
"Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt."
Hahahahaha!
Ya know...normal. Rational. Geez I hate Liberals. Mental defectives. All of them. It gets tiring.
You can only respond if you accept his Premise.
He is making broad statements and just skims over facts to try and goad you and others.
If you do this, it means this. (Lower Taxes means you cannot improve the Military, sure, got it). Lower Taxes (not Taxes, Tax Rates) improve Economic output and increased Tax “Revenue”.
Those Libs sure are tricksters. LOL
He forgets the devil is in the details.
Heck, these are basically the people who loved Hitler. When Hitler and Stalin had a non-aggression pact, people on the Left thought they were both great. Both Socialists. Both heading Workers Parties. Stalin was an Internationalist and Hitler was a Nationalist, but they were good buddies!
Then Hitler attacked Stalin and the Left threw in with Stalin and decided to hate Hitler.
But we know who the Left really is. They are not good people.
Ask your friend you agree that overspending is bad. And that the government spends on unnecessary things.
Then add that is why since the government got involved in health care the cost has skyrocketed.
Ask your friend, in view of these facts, why they are in favor of more government involvement in health care. Are they against affordable health care?
Do they think that somehow paying more bureaucrats will somehow result in more doctors seeing more patients?
Be prepared to lose the friendship.
$10,000,000,000,000 more in debt
Exactly.
I don’t know the answer to that but one of the signs I had above my desk at work was I REFUSE TO HAVE A BATTLE OF WITS WITH AN UNARMED PERSON.
Sometimes it is a Sibling who has left his brain on some deserted beach...sad. He used to be brilliant.
Do you really believe those thoughts my friend? If you do it is imperative that you kill me because I am guilty of everything you loath. Why do you consider me your friend when you know I am the harbinger of everything you hate?
You know you cannot change me because I know you are absolutely wrong about everything in your life. My only hope is to pray for you to become whole and healthy again, if you ever were.
He has completely different assumptions about the nature of reality.
You cannot change those assumptions. He might, if forced to do so by life threatening events. But probably not.
“Dear lefty, please explain why a government has to be as bloated as ours is. That’s why we are being taxed to death.”
Response: ‘My dear friend. With all affection and respect, you are seeing what you see because of the perceptive dyslexia you've developed as a consequence of falling for the misinformation/disinformation you've been spoon fed during your education and by the standard media.
1) Let's start with health care. What about Obamacare makes healthcare affordable? Tell me what skewed or outright manufactured data you can come up with that shows people are paying less for health care. The fact is that inexperienced, unqualified, university-bred eggheads with little to no background in health care, came up with a bureaucracy-based system that is collapsing under its own weight. The incoming administration will demonstrate to you how to make healthcare affordable, while at the same time reestablishing freedoms within the system.
2) Russia. Where to start? It was your candidate, Hillary, who came up with the cute little ‘push the reset button’ soundbite regarding our relations with Russia, but her foreign policy expertise appeared to be just as superficial. Under the current administration we lost the Middle East, and let Russia end-run us in Syria. While we are getting the short end of the stick with China, from an economic perspective, Russia is forging diplomatic ties with them. People like Putin understand power and weakness. That's how they view the world. In that context, the last 8 years have played into Russian hands.
3) Our Allies. Who do you define as our allies? Israel is an ally, but under the outgoing administration we treated them poorly, and tried to influence their elections. We treated their leaders with disrespect, and we sided with their enemies - preferentially. So, let me ask you about Crimea? We, as a nation, pledged our protection to the Ukraine, but other than some bold rhetoric condemning Russia's invasion of the Crimea, we didn't do much. How does this square with your comments about Russia, and about our allies? There are many more examples to go along with those.
4) Cutting taxes - and thus incentivizing people and corporations to invest and take risks is good. Having a strong military is a deterrent to war, and a very strong tool for effective and peaceful diplomacy. Speak softly and carry a big stick is relevant.
5) The incoming administration supports Civil Rights, as does the vast majority of the American populace. Some of the exceptions to this are those like the Democrat Symone Sanders, who stated that ‘We don't need white people leading the Democratic party’.
6) Reducing the population by 10%? Where did you get that one? Margaret Sanger was an advocate of abortion based population management, in a racist context. It is the Republicans who have wanted to stop infanticide.
7) Regarding trade wars with countries that lend us money, and the issue of telling private companies how to run their businesses, there are many things to say. First, why does the US have to ‘borrow’ money? Why are we a debtor nation? Partially, because we have an unsustainably large government that irresponsibly put into place unsustainable social programs that actually hurt people in the long run, and put our nations children and future generations into debt. Second, why shouldn't we protect ourselves and the interests of our citizens when determining trade policy and trade agreements? We've been getting the short end of the stick, and anyone who claims to be a champion of American workers should be in favor of negotiating fair trade agreements. With regards telling private companies what to do, it has been the Democrats who have pushed policies that tell private companies that they have to bake cakes for occasions that are inconsistent with their personal religious beliefs, and that want to force private Catholic hospitals to provide abortions, etc. The whole concept of a private company was questioned with the comment “You didn't build that”.
Those are just a start. I'm sure that with a little thought you can do better.
