While it might be the lesser of the two celebrated PIE days (there is also National Pi Day on March 14), it happens to fall smack dab in the middle of a major pie making season.
Take away ice cream as a dessert choice and most people are either cake people or pie people. Or to put it another way, most people have cake or pie with their ice cream! Combine bumper crops from our gardens and fruit trees with a booming holiday season full of baked goods, cool weather and rosy-cheeked children; its time to tie on those apron strings and get baking.
Of course, we arent limited to dessert. Savory pot pies provide comfort on a cold winters day and the satisfaction a family cook needs when caring for a family.
Each year on December 1, dessert lovers across the United States observe National Pie Day.
This is the 2nd time in a year this national treasure has a day. The first and more popular designation falls on January 23.
Interestingly, tomorrow is national “pie in the face” day.
Talk about yer serendipity.
3.14....oops....wrong pie
Ice cream pie takes favorite Snickers bar into a chewy, creamy, peanut-y delight. A crisp, chocolate pie
crust base; a layer of chewy bittersweet chocolate caramel sauce; a caramelized condensed milk ice
cream studded with white chocolate; and peanut butter streusel. Finally, fudgy caramel sauce on top
and a sprinkling of salted peanuts. A dessert that really satisfies.
I’ll take a little of each one, please. Thank you.
Do you make the Snickers Pie? Looks good. A childhood memory is that of watching my mother make pie crusts. She was so fast. I only tried once, making from scratch. Perhaps we are more “cake people”, but do like pie from time to time. Village Inn has free pie Wednesdays around here.
I thought that was March 14.
Making Snickers Pie is really a production number.....reason I didn’t post the recipe.
Every layer is a different recipe.
It tastes as good as it looks.
What's the relationship between the diameter and the circumference of a pumpkin?

TARTA DE ROSAS---Form phyllo into rose shapes.
How beautiful! Can that woman bake or can that woman bake?!
Then we need Ina Garten to simplify Snickers Pie in her next book so we can all bake it easily!
I could print the recipe....but it is l-o-n-g.
I love the fact that the Milk Pie crust is phyllo.
For that incomparable phyllo crunch, you cant let it sit around.
Don’t then. I generally make mostly fruit pies, myself. I have some simple homemade chocolate cookies in the oven as we speak. My husband’s going to Italy tomorrow and I’m going to pack him up some for the trip. Chocolate cookies need to develop flavor overnight I always think...
Can you make these stained-glass cookies using crushed hard candies? I’m having a devil of a time with them.
