"I have no interest whatsoever in dressing Melania Trump"
Fashion functions as a reflection of the times that we live in, which is why it should come as no surprise that sartorial choices can be extremely political.
Michelle Obamas embrace of young American designers of color like Tracy Reese and Jason Wu during her two terms as First Lady or Melania Trumps choice to wear a dress to the RNC by Roksanda Ilincic, viewed as a nod to how Ilincics Serbian background paralleled Melanias own Slovenian upbringing. (Obama has also supported the popular designer.) A style decision at momentous public moments can speak a thousand words....

You mean THE rude comments?
Why don’t you get off your high horse, and address what was said about Chewbacca, or did I offend you calling her Chewbacca?
and you are who?
Do you love Chewbacca, did I offend you calling her that, did I touch one of your sensitive nerves, and do you need a safe zone now snowflake?
No matter what she wear she will always look good, unlike Chewbacca.
By far the most beautiful First Lady we have ever had.
Caucasians are people of color. The color varies from olive to pink and various hues in between, sometimes with freckles.
Beautiful, love her hair too!
You sound like a life long Dem, are you?
Are you in love with Chewbacca, or am I still hurting your precious mind snowflake?
To add as well.
What are you anyway, a frigging teacher who feels the need to correct people on this board?
Pure class, shame the current First Lady won;t learn anything from Melania.
In the interview the other night, Melania wore the cutest
puffy-sleeved red dress by some designer & totally stole
the show. Michelle’s “boob belts” were not and still are
not “cute”; never did catch on.
These “designers” are pea-green with envy of ANY designer
chosen to design dresses for Melania.
She could wear a burlap sack with no make up and still look 1000 times hotter than the current first “lady”/cow. Like zer0 himself said, “you can put lipstick on a pig...”
So you have just become a republican/conservative.
Yep how did I guess. Someone who feels they are better than others, and feels they have to correct others.
Well buttercup if you don’t like someone putting down Chewbacca then suck it up, and get off your high horse.
Now find that safe zone.
What the hell are you on about?
Why ask a question if you don’t want the answer, but then again you have been a Dem all your life. You see that is how I pegged you.
You felt the need to jump in to put someone down, and then you think it makes you feel above others.
Typical liberal. You might have just turned into a republican, but you are far from being a conservative snowflake.
You have a point there....
I hope she’ll remember which designers didn’t pile on, and will reward them with her purchases, in the future, well beyond their years in the White House.
“I can;t wait till those two women get together for a photo op.”
There was a great photo posted on FR, of Melania and Michelle from the rear climbing stairs, when the Trumps first visited the White House after the election.
I can’t find it to post, but it really made your point - sleek grace vs. lumbering beast.
I will look for that, thank you.
