Okay the election is over and all is well but now I have to ask the question: Could any other Republican besides Donald Trump have beaten Hillary in the election?
Personally I don't think so. Jake Novak of CNBC wrote that Trump was essentially a third party candidate who was endorsed by the Republicans. Many Democrat voters in the Rust Belt which was key to victory voted not for a Republican but for Trump who himself repudiated by many/most of the Republican establishment.
When I look back at the other Republican candidates, I see no one who would have been capable of beating Hillary. Jeb Bush? Puh-lease. He would have spent a lot of his general election campaign apologizing plus he was a complete throwback to the past.
Ted Cruz. Okay I initially liked Cruz but I have come to see faults in him as a candidate. For one thing he had sort of a preachy tone which doesn't translate well to the campaign trail.
Chris Christie? Good on the campaign trail but Bridgegate would have doomed him.
John Kasich? A disgusting human being as we found out.
Marco Rubio? It would have been like a boy campaigning.
All I can say is we are extremely lucky that Donald Trump came on the scene. Only he was able to save us from a Hillary Regime which would have brought a liberal Supreme Court, eroded the Second Amendment, brought hordes of illegals and terrorist "refugees" across America, and, I believe, the basic end of our civilization.
Instead we dodged that horrible Hillary Bullet and the Democrats are now in total disarray. America has been saved and we have one man to thank for that...Donald Trump.
It is more than obvious that you don't know much of ANYTHING at all about Christie.
jebbie? ROTFLMAO
“Theres people who could have beaten Hillary...but no one else could have beaten the media.”
Excellent point.
No!
Trump was the only canidate to have the vision and courage to redefine the electoral map by focusing on immigration and bad trade deals.
I could have easily beaten twee Teddy...without any help from the MSM and/or the Clinton machine, but just me, alone. ;^)
NAY!
I still like Ted, in 2024 when he gets more experience and gets rid of Beck. Hillary would have crushed him.
There are no perfect candidates. We have to grind it out with the hand we ar dealt.
No. Not from the get-go. He was always the only one who could do it because he was the only one not beholden to donors and able to run a truly original campaign responsive to unfolding conditions.
Cruz is a GUTLESS wonder and Christie is just a loud mouthed fat man who has only ever stood up against the teachers unions in N.J. and NOBODY else!

Nope. It took his tenacity and direct actions.
NO other GOP has ever had that since Reagan.
The free world owes Donald J Trump a huge debt of gratitude! None of those other Rinos had a chance in hell! Especially Ted Cruz!!!!!!
The Rust Belt strategy was absolutely key!
Wisconsin, Indiana, Michigan and Pennsylvania. Even Michael Moore had to admit that Trump was pushing an appealing story for blue collar workers.
And did you notice that Trump did a tactical hedge on the Minimum Wage? Trump realized that you need to compromise on certain issues to win.
If Trump had pushed for freezing the Minimum Wage, it would have hurt his blue collar message — you can’t try to re-educate voters on an issue they feel so strongly about.
Longer term, the biggest job producer is getting the country moving again. Open up trade with countries like China who block us. Cut job-killing regulations. Enable entrepreneurs to create jobs that don’t exist today.
Trump’s background as a major educator and champion of entrepreneurs is pretty darn exciting!
Jobs and the economy have been neglected for so long, you gotta believe that merely focusing on it will pay big dividends. Go Trump!
We’re the GOLD DUST TWINS on this one, my old friend. :-)
I’ve wondered about that very question and came to the conclusion that no one could have done what he did. Aside from his stamina and wonderful family, he still had something that very few had —— he was not establishment. Carson wasn’t either, but that is where the stamina comes in. So many assets Trump had/has that all added up to the perfect combo.
Rubio is not a natural born citizen.
Born here of citizen parents.
Rubio’s parents were still Cuban nationals when he was born.
Cruz does not know what natural born citizen means, he should not be on the Supreme Court or he may decide that someone born in Saudi Arabia to a Saudi father and an American mother is eligible to be President.
The simple answer is NO!
It was NO from day one... I tried to explain this... and few wanted to listen.
Trump won this election because he did what NO OTHER REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE WOULD DO...
TOSS GLOBALISM OVERBOARD! Attack “free trade”, and tell the folks in the rust belt, I hear you! You are getting screwed, We all know it.. time to stop the nonsense.
NO OTHER R CANDIDATE WAS GOING TO DO THAT, AND THAT IS EXACTLY WHY NO OTHER R CANDIDATE COULD HAVE WON.
Trump had a plan from day one and it was obvious and brilliant, and the fact so few, across the political spectrum recognized the power behind was he was doing shows you how blinded most folks are.
Trump was the catalyst to realign the working class voter in the upper midwest/Rust belt... and that’s exactly and precisely how he won.... make no mistake about it.
Hillary got D’s to turn out... Even if R’s had manage to take FL and NC... they weren’t going to take PA, MI, WI.... And without at least one of those 3 going with you... you lose...
Why the hell do you think the left was so bloody arrogant all cycle? They never in a million years even contemplated that they would lose one, let alone all 3 of these states! Elites knew, even if they lost FL, OH and IA R’s couldn’t win...They truly had no clue even though Trump broadcast it from day one!
Just like ONLY NIXON COULD GO TO CHINA... ONLY TRUMP WAS TAKING 2016.
I'm old enough ( even though I was a little kiddo back then )to remember his speeches and run against Stevenson.
Back then, EVERYONE praised Stevenson to the skies; he was THE "great orator". Then the book of his speeches came out and everyone couldn't believe that they were praising him, when they heard he say the words.
Unfortunately, I have a far too good memory and I remember that election cycle, as though it were yesterday. I also know what a damned wuss/GOPEer Ike REALLY was, as president.
You make it sound like a pageant show.
