Okay the election is over and all is well but now I have to ask the question: Could any other Republican besides Donald Trump have beaten Hillary in the election?
Personally I don't think so. Jake Novak of CNBC wrote that Trump was essentially a third party candidate who was endorsed by the Republicans. Many Democrat voters in the Rust Belt which was key to victory voted not for a Republican but for Trump who himself repudiated by many/most of the Republican establishment.
When I look back at the other Republican candidates, I see no one who would have been capable of beating Hillary. Jeb Bush? Puh-lease. He would have spent a lot of his general election campaign apologizing plus he was a complete throwback to the past.
Ted Cruz. Okay I initially liked Cruz but I have come to see faults in him as a candidate. For one thing he had sort of a preachy tone which doesn't translate well to the campaign trail.
Chris Christie? Good on the campaign trail but Bridgegate would have doomed him.
John Kasich? A disgusting human being as we found out.
Marco Rubio? It would have been like a boy campaigning.
All I can say is we are extremely lucky that Donald Trump came on the scene. Only he was able to save us from a Hillary Regime which would have brought a liberal Supreme Court, eroded the Second Amendment, brought hordes of illegals and terrorist "refugees" across America, and, I believe, the basic end of our civilization.
Instead we dodged that horrible Hillary Bullet and the Democrats are now in total disarray. America has been saved and we have one man to thank for that...Donald Trump.
I can think of several Republicans other than Trump who could have beaten Hillary. Unfortunately, they are all dead...Theodore Roosevelt, Dwight Eisenhower, Ronald Reagan.
The better question to ask is:
Could God have raised up another republican to be president?
yes... he could have.
He could have made Pee-Wee Herman president if He wanted to...
but He didn’t.
He Chose Trump... Just like He chose Obama.
That is good news for us, because it means He has set us on a better path than the one we were on.
The Republican establishment hammered Cruz worse than Trump, who was also a change candidate, but he didn’t have the personality to pull it off. Cruz would have gotten the conservative base after they reconciled, but never would have gotten crossovers like Trump did. None of the others were change candidates except for Ben Carson and a little less Rubio. He kind of finally blew it when he let Trump get under his skin, especially when Trump accused his father of killing Kennedy. He should have just laughed it off. I do hope that Trump considers him for SCOTUS, for which he is well qualified. He was always better suited for that anyway.
Yeah thats why so historic to me... first time any candidate won, beating the opponent and both of the establishment parties... really as symbolic as a 3rd party win would be.
We all remember that Jeb! WAS UNBEATABLE!!!
HA! Trump defeated the Clinton Crime Syndicate; and the BushBitch La Cosa Nostra ~ Trump schlonged 16 RINOS, HRC, the RNC, the MSM, and all the pollsters ~ with no ‘dirty dollars’ (self- funded) by being who he is!
Make America great again!
He lost me way back when he did the rebuttle to the SOTU, when he as a green, sweating, nervous Nellie n00b.
The Dems wouldn't even have needed to throw out anything at all about "foam parties"! ;^)
Shades of John Galt...
Nope....
None of the others would’ve campaigned as hard or been as straightforward to the people as Trump...
No sir. I think had Rubio not messed up on immigration, he’d have had a chance, but he’s still basically a lightweight. Let him seasin in the Senate for a while and get some battle scars fighting for Trump and we can talk in 2024.
NO!
I not only read his blog every day but I read all his tweets and often watch his Periscope chats.
Rudy could have beaten wee Barry in '08, but the vicious campaign against him, before he even threw his hat into the ring and the damned PURISTS, especially here, were the ones who made certain that he wouldn't make it to the nomination.
The only thing Bubbles will be doing in the Senate is undermining President Trump and working to try to stop him from enforcing the law and sending tens of millions of illegals back to their homes.
Nope.
They’d have done what they always do and pandered to groups, gone to the middle watering down prior promises, and pissed us off.
Nope. Right man; right place; right time. The power and unscrupulous state of the Clinton Crime Family and all their minions had to be taken on by a real fighter. The namby-pamby Republicans meandering around in Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood were destined to be crushed. To take it further, I believeTrump was God’s gift to give us a chance. No doubt he is a flawed man as are we all. But since when has God not put greatly flawed men to work in crises. I have been thanking God every day since Tuesday night.
Only Trump was tough enough. Her dirty tricks machine would have destroyed anyone else.
Other than Trump, he was the only one that looked good on tv and has a pretty family too.
Like I said, we’d find out a lot more about foam parties from the democrat machine and media.
Yes, Rudy would’ve fought to win, but other than his law & order credentials, he didn’t have a record supporting Conservatism socially (pro-abort).
Of the 17 contesting for the nomination? No.
I can tell you who would have eviscerated Hillary Clinton in the debates, though: Newt Gingrich. He probably would not have won the general election, but what he would have done to Clinton in front of live audiences in the debates would have been entertainment for the ages.
