Did anyone else catch that bit about enforcing a no-fly zone over Syria? We could do that, but it would mean aerial combat taking place between US and Russian aircraft.

I don't know about any of you, but I don't see Syria as something worth risking even a conventional conflict with Russia over. Also, it's a bad idea of nuclear powers to fight each other directly. The potential for a nuclear conflict is high, and given the number of warheads we and the Russians have, that conflict would be a disaster of literally biblical proportions.

Thanks so much for the Caucus4Priorities, for the great work you've been doing. As president, I will end misguided defense policies and stand with Caucus4Priorities in fighting special interests in Washington.

Fox News has learned Quds head Qassem Soleimani and Putin discussed such a joint military plan for Syria at that meeting, an encounter first reported by Fox News in early August. ..."

Hezbollah is a proxy of Iran based in Lebanon and Moscow has been working with Tehran to save Bashar al-Assad's regime, even sending men and weapons to Syria.

Russia agreed to provide military training for three leftist regimes in Latin America and increase military visits and exercises following a visit last week to the region by Moscow's Defense Minister Sergei Shoygu, Pentagon officials said.

Shoygu met with defense and military leaders in Cuba, Venezuela, and Nicaragua and signed several agreements on warship visits and military training during the visit, which ran from Feb. 11 to 14. It is not clear whether any new arms deals were completed during the visit.

Defense officials said the Russian leader is seeking bases in the region for strategic bomber flights that Shoygu recently promised would include flights over the Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean.

The 0bama administration, in its efforts to cozy up to Iran and away from Saudi Arabia because Barry thinks Valerie Jarrett (born in Iran and half Iranian) is the Mommy he never knew, have done exactly the opposite; which is to drive Iran (which equals Syria) right into the hands of the Russians. It is a losing, stupid, and sick, pathetic strategy that has already proven to be as wrong as it could be. There’s no need for further exercise nor evidence that it is a losing stupid strategy. We have to somehow come to the conclusion that our efforts in the ME are derived from a system of logic that simply does not apply over there. If we want to gain affinity in the ME it will either come from NOT interfering as we traditionally have OR, to have them beg us to intervene. That is going to take several million more deaths, widespread destuction and horrific casualties over there, sad to say but not untrue to say. Let them blow the crap out of each other. It will not make the slightest difference whether we get involved now or at some later date, except for several thousand (more) US combat deaths my preference being not at all.

It would not surprise me to see 0bama working to get us involved in another war over there because traditionally the US does not change presidents during war and that riff hasn’t been pulled out yet. Since it cannot be him it would have to be Hillary. Yeah, it makes as much sense as nailing your feet to the floor but he’s concerned with his legacy and if he got the US involved, it would be his final triumph of exerting power and would kill a bunch of white guys. That’s a win for Barry.

Trump was most probably referring to language highlighted by the opponents of the deal. On page 142, the deal includes a clause that states, “Co-operation through training and workshops to strengthen Iran’s ability to protect against, and respond to nuclear security threats, including sabotage, as well as to enable effective and sustainable nuclear security and physical protection systems.”

Washington-based Center for Security Policy asserted that Annex III appears “to commit the United States and other world powers to the defense of Iran’s nuclear program.”
