Posting this ahead of the storm so I can ping it out while I know I have connectivity.
Keep track of the status of your loved ones and FRiends on America's Space Coast while we endure Hurricane Matthew. Hey, any county that can turn out that any folks for DJT the day after the debate is worth saving!
De Nada. Glad to hear you and yours are OK. It could have been a lot worse if not for that wobble.
Good to hear you are OK and didn’t lose power. Still a ways to go back until we’re completely out of the woods.
Watermill.
Storm surge is dealier than the winds. So, yes, we’re not out the woods for some time to come.
Deadlier.
Very nice. That used to be our turn-around mark for evening walks up Courtenay.
Believing with you to return to a damage-free home and neighborhood!
we are relieved and grateful he left....even though we may hear forever "I told you I would have been fine ". Whatever. I'll pay for the gas it took from home to Tampa and back😊
thank you for this thread and please, if possible, keep me added to the Brevard County ping list!
Good post-hurricane morning! Y’all posted on the check-in thread about your family and/or your loved ones. Now it is time to let us know that you / they are safe and sound.
Has anyone heard from 3D-Joy?
Safe and sound. Momentary power loss. Working OT at the cable company to get things back on track. Many reports of power lines down on Merritt Island. Just a reminder, if you don’t have power, your TV wont work. A fact that seems to escape many.
We made it through just fine. Limbs down and 2 sections of fence down, but feeling blessed right now.
Just checking in here. I did contact guenevere, but am busy clearing all the downed vegetation from our group of homes...no big damage and sooo much to put back after storm preparation.
I’ll be around more by tonight!
So good to hear from you. We were a bit concerned about our new intrepid 3D-JOY.
Yes I have
I talked to her this morning
She’s good!
Our house fared well. Only lost a screen panel on the pool enclosure. Lost power during the storm according to a neighbor that stayed. Just got power back yesterday evening. House to the west of us lost several shingles off the west facing roof....but it could have been worse.
Went through Charlie, Jean, Francis and a few others....and the close call with Floyd but this one had me really thinking that there might not be anything to come back to.
Very thankful that it stayed offshore.
I am finally catching up on the thread...your comment made me cry...you are such a good “long distance” friend.
I was just working to “button up the house and plan for a driving evacuation with the dog...we did that. Drove over and up to Ocala and then further west and stayed in the car at a Walmart with all the cars and mostly trailers that were there. There was some rain along the way but nothing bad and finally a good sleep. I had put 1/2 of the backseat down and made a cozy, long bed for us.
Morning came to good news that the storm had passed the area here in Brevard, but bad news that it was going to hit northern areas harder.
I drove on to near Cedar Key and then down to Tampa. Hearing the Bridge on the causeway near me had opened, I continued my circular route back to Orlando and on to Melbourne beachside. Saturday as we returned we formed a gang and cleared house after house together!
It took 3 days to bring furniture in and put on all window and door coverings. Branches that rubbed the pool screening had to be cut down and I may never have as many as 15 hanging baskets again. All the furniture and beds were covered and small items boxed up for safety. Now it may take longer to put it all back in place.
I had not planned so many years alone after my husbands death...he is greatly missed. We would have made it a great adventure.
I am going to watch the projections for a return blast! Probably just a tropical storm, but where is it to come ashore this time?
Those who stayed on my street said power never failed but the sound and flying debris was intense! Family would not accept my staying so I went!
Thank You, All, for your concern and I am thankful for FR FRiends every day.
Please all read the post above. I did not think to write all the names down before the post to onyx got too long to do repeatedly.
Again, thanks for all the concern. I am so glad to read that we Brevardians and our loved ones are all doing so well today. Tired, but happy to move forward to election activity again!
We really MUST have a get together soon!!
We’re glad you’re home, safe and sound.
WE dodged a bullet here in Brevard (for most of us).
Folks in the Carolinas are soaked to the bones.
Thanks, it was a nice LONG ride.
Live in Merritt Island. Evacuated to daughter’s house in Orlando Thursday night. Came back Friday afternoon when Causeway reopened. No damage to house. Lost one loquat tree. Took only ten minutes to clean up yard. Didn’t get electric back till this morning (Monday).
