By scrapping antiquated headphones, Apple is doing something extraordinary for music (Link Only )
DUH! One has an "R" on it, the other has an "L" on it. GRIN
Why do you need more? You gonna get more than one iPhone 7? If so, you'll get more adaptors. They do unplug you know.
And you can use Bluetooth on the iPhone 7, or you can still use the standard 3.5mm jack headphones. So your point is?
I'm aware of that. I had a couple portable digital music players before I bought an early iPod. The others were clunky devices with lots of buttons, and big battery holders that held AA batteries. They did have great games and the ability to modify the operating systems, which I did do from time to time. When Apple released the iPod, I installed it on my Windows PC (I think it was Windows 98 at the time) with iTunes, and later ported it to a Mac. There were a a lot of things I did with the older players, such as using them as portable hard drives to copy files from work and transport them home (using them as the equivalent of USB sticks). The iPods were slicker and more streamlined, less bulky and easier to slip in a pocket. But I did miss some of the features on the other digital players.
No I think ANY company that does this now is stupid
I read the article and still think it is stupid
I feel the way I do for the Apple corporate personality and practice. It is the overpriced fad driven hype mentality that I object to.
As far as the app compatibility problems. I have one of our local weather station apps on my droid and it works fine. On my wife's iPhone6 the app cannot pinpoint her location on the radar map.
I looked into it and found it is a common problem with iPhones because the iPhone uses three or four different methods of tracking and constantly attempts to balance between them. With constant conflicts between tower triangulation, GPS, and local WiFi, from one look to the next she is all over the map across twenty miles. What is your solution Apple gurus? Buy a Samsung Galaxy S7 edge?
You may say the app designer didn't know how to manage the functions of the Apple but it still didn't work for her and we cannot make the TV station redesign its app.
The round mouse, that brilliant invention that was different.
"Apple, we're ULTIMATELY all about C O N T R O L."
Apple has literally become the antithesis of their original, ground breaking "1984 commercial" = APPLE IS the all-controlling "Big Brother" and their consumers are the Proles = mind-numbed, controlled masses in lock step with Apple's "Ministry of Truth", which controls and determines what news, entertainment, education and art Apple's Prole users are allowed, by benevolent Big Brother, to gain access to.
EVERYTHING in "1984 Apple-World" is specifically and ultimately designed FOR ABSOLUTE CONTROL over their 1984 Apple-World Prole users, and EVERYTHING IS PROPRIETARY so the Proles have to continually pay through the nose in order to continue to be a part of, and access "1984 Apple-World".
Bluetooth has been around for years now and readily available in numerous portable devices THAT ALSO HAVE MINI HEADPHONE JACKS. If Apple was truly "forward-thinking", and not all about control, their latest IPhone 7 would have followed suit by allowing for wireless Bluetooth headphone accessibility while also allowing for "backwards compatibility" with wired headphones by also continuing to provide a mini headphone jack. But NO, THAT WILL NEVER DO because Big Brother needs another way to further CONTROL AND SQUEEZE MORE MONEY out of their "1984 Apple-World" Proles while also providing Big Brother WITH A NUMBER OF ADDITIONAL NEW, PERPETUAL, PROPRIETARY MONEY STREAMS:
1984 Apple-World Ministry of Truth's latest commercial Iphone 7 directive:
"Apple Proles, you want to continue to use your 'out-dated' wired headphones, because you foolishly believe their audio quality to be superior to Apple's Bluetooth headphones? Sure, Big Brother will permit you to do so, but it's going to cost you extra: you have to buy our (expensive), proprietary Apple mini jack Iphone 7 attachment."
"Oh, you don't want to have to do that, then the best way for you to be 'cool' and access the Apple approved Itunes you have paid (through the nose) for is to by purchasing our 1984 Apple-World approved, proprietary Bluetooth headphones."
Is it any wonder why so many free, "OPEN SOURCE", users hate Apple-Corp; and why, finally some of the 1984 Apple-World Proles are waking up to reality and questioning, no longer listening to, or believing the propaganda lies they have been and are being fed to them by 1984 Apple-World's "Ministry of Truth" concerning the Iphone 7 (and other 1984 Apple-World products) and how "great" and "forward-thinking" it is NOT to include a wired mini jack on the IPhone 7?
Remembering Apple's first commercial: Some, brave, free, "open source" soul needs to bravely infiltrate 1984 Apple-World's domain, rush the guards and boldly throw a large silver sledge hammer right into the massive image of Apple-World's Big Brother's face; utterly destroying the screen and setting the 1984 Apple-World's mesmerized Proles free!
You mean a learning experience such as Samsung went through between the S6 and the S7?
The S6 dropped the SD card slot.
The S7 brought it back, together with an offer of a free 256GB SD card to buyers of the S7 or S7 Edge. (The S7 comes with 32GB installed). The S7 is also IP68-rated, to reassure the hydrophobic consumer.
You hit all the false talking points and wrong headed idiotic claims without an ounce of truth in your entire post. . . ignorant from one end to the other. AND slinging insults as you do it. SHEESH!
One would expect people to LEARN something before they open their mouths and prove they are know nothing idiots.
Do you even know that one of the biggest suppliers of open source software in the world is. . . Apple? Did you know the owner of much of the OPEN SOURCE CODE you guys use is. . . Apple? Things like CUPS, and WEBKIT? Apple.
Do some homework, Jmouse007. What's in the box with the iPhone 7? Look for it. Then report back to us about who is forcing who to spend lots more money on Bluetooth wireless headphones or an "additional, expensive, PROPRIETARY apple device that allows them to use their existing wired headphones. . ."
REALLY. Do it. You might learn to educate yourself before you make an idiotic fool out of yourself by spouting off nonsense, like you just did.
I stand by my original post:
1984 Apple-Word is ULTIMATELY all about: C O N T R O L over their Prole users.
Your post proves my assertion, you are just regurgitating the latest propaganda your being spoon fed by 1984 Apple-World's "Ministry of Truth" concerning Iphone 7.
The problem with 1984 Apple-World's PROPRIETARY mini jack adaptor instead of including a standardized, tiny mini headphone jack on the phone itself: it is an eyesore.
Instead of being slim, small and compact like a normal mini jack, this thing sticks out like a sore thumb; it is unwieldy, an additional piece of equipment your forced to attach to your IPhone and lug around. It is easily lost, broken, stolen or misplaced, and THAT'S THE POINT, and 1984 Apple-World's HOOK into subtly tricking/coercing their Apple-World Prole users into having to purchase another one at an exorbitant price when lost, broken or stolen. OR, as purposely designed the Proles give up using thus cumbersome, useless add-on apendage and SUBMIT to Apple-World's CONTROL by purchasing 1984 Apple-World's PROPRIETARY, exorbitantly expensive Bluetooth headphones. Which is the ultimate point of not incorporating a standardized, universal mini headphone jack into the IPHONE 7 in the first place!
Step away from the bottle of alcohol, jmouse007. Did you not bother to see all the competition for adapters? When there are LOTS of them out there it is not going to be a problem or expensive to replace. What part of its NOT proprietary does your THICK SKULL fail to grasp. Apple already has these OH-SO-EXPENSIVE adapters for sale. Here you go:
Yeah, that's right, they're $9.00 each. That's really going to break the bank isn't it? I assure you that before the month is out, there will be third party adapters for less than $3.00, Four for $10.00 on eBay. . . and you have your idiotic panties in a wad about $9.00?????!!!! WOW
They're the same price whether they're 3.5mm jack or lightning port earbuds. $29.00.
Thanks that’s what I thought. So I really don’t understand why there’s all this uproar about going exclusively Bluetooth.
I suppose I may be missing out on something if I use a third-party pair of headphones but I’m not an audiophile anyway, so I don’t care. I’ve also been using these wonderful inexpensive Bluetooth headphones my wife bought me for my birthday last year with my iPad mini already. To me (again not an audiophile so there’s that caveat) they sound awesome. Other than a slight delay at the beginning (when I first turn them on) they work just like and just as clear as wired earphones. And they don’t have the wires and, IMO, are more comfortable than the current earbuds. The current buds, in my ear, because of the way their little speakers are oriented (which as best as I can figure out are actually at a right angle with respect to your ear canal at least that’s the only way I can figure out how to stick them in the ear without suffering a dramatic loss of sound quality that even I can detect) when they are in my ear if I fall asleep with them in, they tend to scrape up against my ear canal sometimes even breaking the skin! I’ve scratched the skin sometimes with those things.
The Bluetooth headphones (not earbuds) remove this problem and I don’t get all tangled up in wires, again if I fall asleep with them on. And the charge on the headphones lasts a week (with using them 1-2 hours a night).
Also of note the original reason my wife bought me those headphones is because I have a PC I use (desktop, running Windows 10) for gaming, but the wired headphones I use for that keep literally tripping me up when I move in the chair or even if I forget I have them on and get out of the chair. I’ve tripped over that wire so many times moving around in the chair and when I do it yanks the headphones off my head causing them to crash into the desk or the floor. I can’t believe they still work but they do.
Anyway she bought me those Bluetooth headphones so I could use that instead of a wired connection to my PC. I could never get them to work with the PC though (and yes I bought a separate Bluetooth adapter for that purpose when she bought me the headphones without realizing I didn’t have Bluetooth on my PC). I still can’t get them to work on the PC to this day, but they worked from day one with the iPad.
Sounds like a deal maker to me. I will try an I phone when I am account eligible in February.
Oh... I see. I misunderstood... I thought they did away with the standard 3.5mm jack. My mistake.
