‘iPhone 7 better come with a Find My Headphones app’: Apple backlash begins after it ditches earplugs socket in favour of wireless AirPods that will set you back £159

Lordy, you guys are thick...Brits included...
If you own a pair of wired headphones they will work fabulously with the new iPhone 7 using the adapter that comes with it.
If you own bluetooth headphones, they will work great with the new iPhone 7.
If you own no headphones, the new iPhone 7 comes with earbuds that plug into the lightning jack.
If you want, Apple is coming out with really nifty, small wireless earbuds. They will cost $159, which is inline with nicer bluetooth headphones.
What is the beef?
Use your brain, Dan. This is a requirement of the technology. It's because that is the dot pitch of a 5.5" diagonal 1080P screen that fits on an iPhone 6 Plus, 6S Plus, and 7 Plus. It also happens to be the video HD specification for high definition video movies that would be video recorded by the camera included with the iPhone 6 Plus, 6S Plus, and 7 Plus, and then shown on 95% of the big screen television sets that are owned by the general public which are ALSO 1080P. There is no other reason than that.
To use a 326 PPI dot pitch the iPhone 6 Plus, 6S Plus, and 7 Plus screens would have had to have had 6.76" diagonal screens and been far too large for Apple's specifications. (Do you recall the early 1080P Android phablets that came out in that exact size?) Otherwise, the iPhone Plus models could not have had the HD proportioned screens.
Apple did not increase the PPI because it was necessary for improving visual acuity or to improve human perception beyond the Retina ability of the 326PPI, but rather to maintain ease of HD proportionality in a 5.5" aspect ratio using an efficient one-to-one video camera ratio to video display screen ratio without having to do inefficient algorithmic transformations (something every Android phones with non-standard pixel size screens must do, which again slows down the display) to fit one to the other. It's as simple as that.
So? These are all static spec tests. They say nothing about moving pixels around, which is what you and I have been talking about. The quality of the display's visual appearance has ZIP to do with how well the hardware of the phone can handle the display.
I will wait for the iPhone 8 that will bring back the headphone jack.
No, because my business is working with both of those platforms. Unlike you, I do know what I am talking about when I make a comment on a Windows or Android thread. I also do not go on and on and on and on and on and on . . . spouting ignorant garbage over and over and over and over and over calling the Windows or Android users names.
If I make a comment on one of those threads, it is usually to inform, not to denigrate, it is certainly not to insult users. Ask dayglored or ThunderSleeps, the keepers of the pertinent Ping lists if what I just said is true or not.
It won't be back. It's not Arnold or MacArthur.
Well, now... Since dayglored doesn't expect that that offer to ask will be accepted, he merely stands back at a safe distance, watching in awe as this thread, comprised largely of this particular flamewar, soars above the 125-comment mark.
If only the threads I post about Windows could draw this much, ummm, enthusiasm for spirited argument! But alas, no, they wind down after a dozen or so such exchanges and go back to discussing BSODs and printer drivers. *sigh* I guess Windows folks, pro- and con-, just don't have this much stamina.
Or something,... whatever it is you guys are displaying... :-)
As for me, I gotta get up early in the morning tomorrow. G'night, all.
Well, we evil Apple fanboys could arrange to send some of our minions over to start slinging mud all over the place and insulting Windows users, but Alas, I know of no one who has the interest and frankly, dayglored, I've looked under the furniture, in the closets, out in the garage among all the ghosts of computers past, and not one single minion do I find, and, sad to say, not even any married minions. So, unless you have any ideas where I could look to find minions, I'm afraid you are thit out of luck for any flame wars from our camp.
You know we are more likely to express sadness and pity on anyone still stuck in Windows hell, rather than compound their travails by punishing them further.
Swordmaker's comments are always welcome in the Android list.
Me, I use what works, and I don't feel the need to run-down other people's choices. In my day-to-day world between my stuff, my wife's stuff, and work I use regularly:
About the only current tech I don't have regular interaction with and thus don't comment on are windows based phones and blackberries. I have 3 science and engineering degrees and 35+ years working with computers. My take on it: use what works for you. Realize that even the stuff that doesn't work for you, probably works for someone or they'd have gone out of business long ago.
Second everything you said, ThunderSleeps!
I won’t list all the gear I play with right now but it’s a similar list... Just the latest... bought the wife a new Mac mini for her home projects and enjoyment, just spun up a new set of CentOS VMs, and updated my Windows 7 and 10 VMs to the latest and greatest. Looking to add a color laser printer next.
Tomorrow I start the search for some spare Mac minions for Swordmaker ... :-)

And yet you are irresistibly attracted to an Apple thread? Yep, like the moth mindlessly attracted to the light so you feel drawn to Apple product threads.
A ha! So there ARE reasons other than “you can’t see it!” to go to higher resolution. And with UHD and 4K video becoming more popular, you want higher resolutions than 1080x1920 to support native resolution.
Funny, it’s about time that Apple understood that native resolution modes are big benefit! Most other vendors got that several years ago... Kudos to Apple for finally catching up!
Seriously? You sure you want to stand on that statement? Don't want to rethink and restate or refine?
Funny, I work with both platforms too! And unlike you, I at least know the resolution of the screens I'm targeting. Perhaps because I came up in a Windows-centric world when doing development, and learned early on the power of using logical pixels rather than fixed positions (like iOS did for the first several years).
All those things that so many Apple people rail about - all the different hardware platforms and screen resolutions that have to be supported in an app - are irrelevant if you know how to program AND the OS supports variable resolution! Your app automatically handles it with nothing more than 2-3 system calls at the beginning to get the system resolution - and that's it. Everything afterwards is automatically scaled - if you do your software right.
I also do not go on and on and on and on and on and on . . . spouting ignorant garbage over and over and over and over and over
Oh, like Apple ONLY has 326 PPI displays? ;)
Probably because we “Windows/Android guys” have heard it all before hundreds of times. We don’t get so defensive, probably because the vast majority of the world agrees with us.
I guess it’s true - when you are a small minority (like OSX or iOS fans), you do get really defensive!
