Full Title: No love for the Obamas! Movie of Michelle and Barack's first date 'Southside With You' lags at the box office in its opening weekend
American audiences failed to fall in love with Southside With You over the weekend, with the film that tells the story about President Obama's first date with future First Lady Michelle under-performing at the box office.
The movie, which opened in limited release at 813 theaters across the country on Friday, only managed to pull in $3 million in its first three days, slightly below expectations for the picture.
This despite solid reviews across the board and a heavy press push, with stars Parkers Sawyer and Tika Sumpter and executive producer John Legend doing a number of interviews leading up to the film's release.

“I wouldnt go to see that ridiculous movie at the point of a bayonet.”
I’m with you.....I have seen so much of those two that they make me sick to my stomach, I’m going to celebrate like crazy when the moving van pulls away from the White House and they are gone. If Trump wins, I won’t mind the hang over the next day.

Who? Never heard of them.

‘Southside With You’
They should have called it Scary Movie 6.
They would have made 10 millions dollars the first weekend!
Hasn’t the basic theme of the Obama’s relationship been done a million times before? Will & Grace? The Birdcage?
Why? I'm somewhat embarrassed that I did. :-)
This movie will make-up it's weak opening weekend performance by making it mandatory for all the public skrool children to watch it during lunchtime in their cafeterias.
Skipping all the eligibility issues, shouldn't that have been "...future President Obama's first date..."?
That would also help curb childhood obesity.

Subtitled...”Barky Buys a Beard”
Wait until they make movies like this one mandatory for all good citizens. It will start in the schools.
well? what mook thought that people would flock to theaters and plank their money down to watch this crap?
Rotten Tomatoes has been known to fudge their scores so the 92% us meaningless.
With a 1.5 M price tag, this isn’t a movie, its an film student project.
Bet you a dollar it wins an Oscar for Best Picture.
This movie will probably end up being required viewing in the public schools. . . . there more than likely a common core standard that will be met by incorporating it into the curriculum.
