Meteorologist Joe Bastardi says the current heat wave in most parts of the U.S. which tied the 135-year-old record temperature in Washington, D.C. on Saturday is childs play compared to the 1930s. [ ]
Washington area farmers were certainly not spared in 1930, as intense, prolonged hot spells gripped the region during late July and early August, according to a 2010 article in the Washington Post. The official temperature recorded on July 20 was 106°F, which holds the record as the highest temperature ever recorded in Washington.
Unofficially, 110°F was recorded that same day on Pennsylvania Avenue and 108°F at the National Cathedral, the article continued. The summer of 1930 also set the record at 11 for number of days where temperatures reached or exceeded 100°F.
By the end of the summer of 1930, approximately 30 deaths in Washington were blamed on the heat and thousands more had died nationwide, the Post article said.

When is comes to weather Joe Bastardi is the man.
“Joe, You magnificent Bastardi!”
Texans baked in 105 temperatures in 1935....without air conditioning! We’d never make it today.
All a bunch of wusses. I live in a place called Bullhead City, AZ where the AVERAGE temperature this month is 122 degrees.
“Texans baked in 105 temperatures in 1935”
First year for the Chevy Suburban. Damn those global warming causing SUVs!
Long before there were such things as global warming or climate change.
Not according to these guys:

or these:
https://weather.com/weather/today/l/USAZ0023:1:US
—there are still remaining 1930’s high records in the upper midwest-
—Lead, SD has highest and lowest temps yet in 1936-—minus 36F and 100F-—
Joe Bastardi is the best in the business. I have no idea how I’m going to get my weather after he dies. I don’t trust the other ones.
Any predictions for this winter yet?
Texans baked in 105+ temperatures in 1936...without air conditioning! (We’d never make it today.) The heat wave was nationwide and over 5000 Americans died that summer. This was during the dust bowl and the Great Depression, yet we don’t read about riots during these calamitous times. How small our national character has shrunk since that age of tough Americans.
Indeed we would not be great if Americans did not die in the summer. Non wusses will gladly flirt with the grave for the sake of a place, not even a mission in a place.
Irony intended of course. This does not excuse RIOTS but we are not expected to brag on our earthly hardihood in vanity either.
And now that we have global warming and climate change we have a solution: vote for democrats, raise taxes, empower more federal bureaucracies, cripple free market growth and push global agendas.... oh and bring in more illegal aliens and refugees.
Pray for the sun to become less spotty. This will bring us cooler climates.
No hotter place on the face of the earth than DC in the summer. Mom and Dad used to drag us up there on vacay every couple of years.
Yep, that should bring down temperatures to normal; what is the normal anyway?
