The TNO orbits in a plane that’s tilted 110 degrees to the plane of the solar system. What’s more, it swings around the sun backwards unlike most of the other objects in the solar system. With this in mind, the team that discovered the TNO nicknamed it “Niku” after the Chinese adjective for rebellious.
To grasp how truly rebellious it is, remember that a flat plane is the signature of a planetary system, as a star-forming gas cloud creates a flat disk of dust and gas around it. “Angular momentum forces everything to have that one spin direction all the same way,” says Bannister. “It’s the same thing with a spinning top, every particle is spinning the same direction.”

Batygin was one of two astronomers who earlier this year announced that the presence of another highly inclined group of objects could be pointing toward a large undiscovered world, perhaps 10 times as massive as Earth, lurking even further away – the so-called Planet Nine.
Upon further analysis, the new TNO appears to be part of another group orbiting in a highly inclined plane, so Holman’s team tested to see if their objects could also be attributed to the gravitational pull of Planet Nine.
It turns out Niku is too close to the solar system to be within the suggested world’s sphere of influence, so there must be another explanation. The team also tried to see if an undiscovered dwarf planet, perhaps similar to Pluto, could supply an explanation, but didn’t have any luck. “We don’t know the answer,” says Holman.

To provide an easy to understand example, think of the Earth's equator as the solar system's plane of the elliptic. This is the reference point for all lines of latitude.
Lines of longitude pass through the equator and both poles. As such they are inclined 90 degrees from the equator.
Therefore, the referenced Trans Neptune Object (TNO) CANNOT be tilted 110 degrees from the place of the elliptic. It is possible for it to be in a retrograde orbit but that only makes it more interesting since it means that it did NOT form from the same material as the solar system.

Shocked that it took almost 30 minutes for somebody to post this!
I’m not an expert on the Solar system, but I believe that its the pull from the masses of the other planets that causes the alignments and that the ones that are furthest out require more time to achieve this alignment and that they’re merely in a transition stage.

They must be measuring from the opposite direction seeing that this object is in retrograde orbit.............
I doubt that people are taking pictures of it...
Planets orbit in the same direction same plane today because they from the sun's disk so they all have the same orbit as they all form from the same basic Orbit
Clearly this object was not formed with solar system but an out side object captured by the sun gravity as it pass by.. .. hence being in it own unique orbit around the sun ..its Korn current orbit is a reflection of the path its was taking when it was captured
