AC for me was 90 minutes from exit 123 on the Parkway. Used to hang out at the Sands and the Claridge. Cookie Jar and the Crumbs played Saturday night in the lounge, The floor would be empty.
Watched Leonard Toss lose the Philadelphia Eagles. Watched a Venezuelan oil minister lose millions. Had the hottest woman I have ever seen with him. He was drinking milk and smoking Marlboros.
a few years back my naive son was mugged in AC..by 4 of Obama’s sons. His life was threatened, they took his wallet and cell phone and punched him in the face. He started screaming at the top of his lungs, scared them off and he took off in the other direction running faster than he had ever done in his life.

Exactly. I lost $500 on slots in one evening 5 years ago. Didn’t hit anything the whole night. I was so pissed I didn’t even stay the night. Went right home (about a 2 hr. drive). Have never been back and have no desire.

The Indian casinos are a big competition. They can run their casinos without paying taxes.
It’s like any other business with a mixture of fixed and variable costs - it is possible for revenue to be so low that despite the profitability of the gambling proposition (55% house, 45% to winnings), it’s not enough. Atlantic city is an accident of history and transportation technology. Just far enough form NYC, nice beaches some of the year. When inexpensive air fares got you to Miami as fast as a drive to AC, they were done. Bada bing, bada boom.
