Donald Trump has been gone from Atlantic City for years, but his name has lived on in glowing neon on the façade of a casino he no longer owned.
But later this year, the Republican presidential nominees name will disappear from the seaside gambling resort along with 3,000 jobs.
The Trump Taj Mahal casino, opened 26 years ago by Trump, announced Wednesday that it will shut down after Labor Day. The business now belongs to Trumps friend and fellow billionaire Carl Icahn, who decided he can no longer support a casino losing millions of dollars each month amid a crippling strike.

Trump never had a huge interest in casinos, financially. His name was the big deal. More propoganda to destroy.
But wow!! I had some good times there. Met Chuck Zito there and got autograph :)
If the Golden Nugget closes down, i’ll head to the basement with a grand worth of Black Label and relive the good times in my had :(
Fodder for the next 24-48 hour news cycle.
Lol
Even very successful people and companies gave us things like the Arch Deluxe, New Coke and Windows ME. You cannot have success without risk.
Atlantic City was doomed by casinos opening up in neighboring states. The overall business numbers have been grim for years.
In a fair world, Hillary’s best buddy Buffet would buy the Casino and keep it open so nobody loses their Jobs.
Just another story to get off the subject of emails.
you can’t say that enough times. Lazy mother###s who never took a chance and don’t want to work but want everything handed to them are the ones that will complain about this. Didn’t Hillary lose 6 billion dollars?
Charles “Chuck” Carmine Zito, Jr., is an American actor, amateur boxer, martial artist, celebrity bodyguard, stuntman, former boxing trainer and former president of the New York chapter of the Hells Angels.
The libs are going to try to smear Trump with this, but 1) he has not been involved for years, 2) the business situation has been dire since competitor casinos opened up in neighboring states, and 3) the union thumbed their noses at the deal numbers that could still make this work in the present business environment. None of this is Trump’s fault, but the ‘Rats and MSM will try to make it so.
Really, tell Buffet to run the business as a charity, he is the big time lib....
Excellent points, all.
I didn’t know Trump had control over PA and NY when it came to putting up casinos /s
Still, I’ll cry like an unfed 4 month old if they close Golden Nugget.
Yep.
I'll also add that they tried to strip you of your money as fast as they could. They forgot about repeat business.
In the early eighties, I used to got to Vegas with some friends. I would carry $500 for gambling. I could make it last for two days with little problem. They got my money and I had two days of fun and free alcohol. I used to go every two-three months.
I went to Atlantic city in its prime and they stripped me of may cash as fast as they could and very little free alcohol. I did not feel inclined to ever go back.
A “fair world”? Really?
When I lived in Ct., we’d go there a couple times a year with friends, but I haven’t been to Atlantic City in maybe 25 years. Back then, the Boardwalk and maybe the block back to Pacific Ave was passable, but further away from the Boardwalk, it was pretty dodgy and you didn’t walk around there in groups of less than about 10 and that was during the day!
Frankly, I’m surprised that any of the casinos are still in business down there, especially given some of the plush Indian casinos that have sprung up closer to the big cities.
A casino surrounded by Haiti!
>>>A fair world? Really?<<<
You do know I was being facetious, right? #;^)
