A journalist has revealed the 'unfinished' conditions inside his room at the Rio Olympics media village, with a hole in the wall gushing a stream of water for the shower. New Zealand Newshub reporter Jeff McTainsh uploaded footage of the shocking conditions at 12pm on Monday, Brazil-time. 'You would have heard a lot about things being unfinished for this Olympics ... well the bathroom I'm standing in is a perfect example of that, let me show you,' he said.

Sounds like the Rio Olympics has a bad case of manana, or the Portugese equivalent thereof.

This is going to be painful to watch.
Unless what we read is exaggerated. If I were involved in the Olympics, I'd get in and out of there in as short an interval of time as possible.
Brazil is broke. That is their problem.
The United States is broke. This will be our problem.
In related news. Olympic Sail Boat ramp collapses.

The host committee is staying, not in a hotel in Rio, but on a cruise ship:

Appropriately named the Getaway.
Per a poster here yesterday, that reporter showing us the shower definitely needs to shut his mouth...as in its risky to accidentally ingest water in the shower, for fear of catching a virus.

Ohmygosh, that's funny. I wonder how many people there are who are telling everyone how safe and prepared Rio is.....from a cruise ship.

Classic story, reporter complaining about his third world hotel accommodations.
Thank you.

I respectfully disagree.
This is gonna be awesome to watch.
I'm already inventing drinking games: Whenever e. coli is referenced, take a drink of beer
Whenever a stupid-as human interest story references humble beginnings, swig a cocktail.
Whenever the camera pans over the bay and you can see either feces or body parts, drink vodka directly from the bottle.
I wold LOVE to know how much Rio spent bribing the IOC to get these Olympics! (and PS-I hope the athlete’s village is in much better shape than the newsies’ village!)
I don’t plan on watching - it’s another PC show I can do without.
Nothing new here. There are always stories of oddly uncompleted venues or living quarters. What got me are the stories about turds and dead bodies floating by, and what it has taken just to clean some of the filth from the coastline.
Still safer than Chicago.
