(Some people in Murfreesboro TN need to get out more) A woman's husband said she was sexually assaulted when she was squirted with water from a toy at a hibachi restaurant.
The woman, Isabelle Lassiter, and her husband, James Lassiter, called the police but refused to file charges when they arrived Monday.
"It was a sexual-style assault on my wife," James Lassiter said Tuesday.
The toy, used during the cook's show at Wasabi Japanese Steakhouse, was made to look like a little boy, and it shoots water when its plastic pants are pulled down.
Isabelle Lassiter said she thinks the cooks here showed a little too much of the little guy in the cook's hand.
"It peed on me, basically," she said Tuesday.
Wasabi admitted one of the chefs shot some of the water in the face of one of its customers.
"You hold it aside and water comes out," said Johnny Huang, general manager of Wasabi.
Isabelle and James Lassiter were in town on a job from Texas. They said they were mortified when the chef essentially made the toy urinate water on Isabelle.
"(It happened) in front of our minor children and grandchildren," James Lassiter said.
"It really didn't have a wiener, but you got the point," Isabelle Lassiter said.
Police noted the doll wasn't anatomically correct, but the Lassiters said that didn't matter.
"Just because somebody cut off a piece of plastic, OK, it's not there anymore, doesn't change the fact that you're getting peed on," James Lassiter said.
Huang said he apologizes to the family, and that he's never had any complaints about the toy before. He said chefs will at least ask permission before showing more of the toy boy again.
"The kids like it," Huang said. "They think it's a water gun, kind of like a water gun, you know?"
Absolutely. The best chefs put on a show while they cook the meal at your table and keep up a steady patter of jokes and one liners. I know the one we ate at regularly some chefs would make a volcano out of a sliced onion - filling it with oil and lighting it. My kids loved that. Every time we went they would yell "volcano, volcano" and the chef was always happy to oblige them. Some people just need to loosen up.
I don’t understand the point of it at all. Why do it?
That said, calling the police was a bit overboard. Much ado about nothing.
It happens every time I’ve eaten at a hibachi restaurant but the toy doesn’t usually actually wet anyone. I consider it a bit crude but thought it must be acceptable in the Japanese culture.
I'm with you, I wouldn't appreciate it at all and would leave. But I would never call the police over something this petty.
I’m not ashamed every time I catch the sake stream. Maybe a little embarrassed the first time but after a couple of dozen visits I’ve gotten used to it— and pretty good at it! It is my daughter’s favorite place and where she chooses for her birthday dinner. It is fun and the food is great! She turns twelve soon so I’ll go be “assaulted” again within the next month.
No...it expelled water on Isabelle. In order for it to 'urinate' it would need to expel...well...URINE.
Some of the things that are acceptable in the Japanese culture would make most civilized people puke.

I was on vacation/golfing trip to Myrtle Beach with my husband and one night we went to a Hibachi restaurant.
The chef walked up to our table and boy, he was a big and very serious looking Japanese dude. And by big, I dont mean fat or like a Sumo wrestler, but big as in tall and very muscular. He stood there for a moment, almost scowling at us. Then all of a sudden he broke out in a big smile and with the deepest southern drawl youve ever heard, said - Hi yall. How yall doin tonight? Bet yall werent expecting me to sound like this did ya. ; )
He was great BTW. He did all the usual entertaining things you expect at a Hibachi restaurant (the onion volcano, tossing shrimp to us) and some amazing knife work and told some very funny stories and jokes.
I recall him making fun of himself saying he might be the only Japanese redneck - a coon huntin and catfish fishin NASCAR fan in all of South Carolina, or perhaps anywhere. He made a joke about once having dreamed of being a NASCAR driver himself but of course as everyone knows, us Asians cant drive. He asked where my husband and I were from and when we said Maryland he said, well thats almost sort of Southern so you are OK I guess. He also said that when his parents talked about The War they werent talking about WWII but THE WAR you know, what we Southerners know as the War of Northern Aggression. He joked that he wanted to join a Civil War re-enactment group but they didnt have any openings for rebel Samurai warriors.
He also told us all four of his grandparents were born in Japan but both he and his parents were born in South Carolina and he grew up in Myrtle Beach. He had recently served in the US Army but was back home and working on finishing his MBA and was working this job to help pay for his schooling. He was a cool and very funny guy.
I have been OOOOFFFEEEENNNNDDDEEEDDDD, look at me!
Interesting. I had dinner with my wife, son and his girl friend Tuesday night at a Japanese Steakhouse. Our cook had the exact same toy and squirted us. We all thought it was a hoot. Must be a new trend in Japanese Steakhouse.
The only odd thing is our cook made “arroz frito” instead of the standard “flied lice.”
Oh please, a water gun that looks like a little boy going #1= sexual assault? Give me a break.
Anyway, I was just looking for a TN thread to talk about the TN primary results
Scott DesJarlais won renomination in CD-4, defeating Grant Starrett by 52%-43%.
Diane Black crushed Joe Carr in CD-6, 63.6% to 32%.
CD-8 was open, surprise retirement of Stephen Fincher. Former US Attorney David Kustoff is the apparent winner, with just 27% in a huge field.

Hear about that, DJ? LOL. The challenger, Mark Lovell won by a huge margin, 56% to 19% for the incumbent, what was up with this race?
DesJarlais’s win was a relief. Starrett was a lying scumbag who faced expose after expose on a local blog, but ignored by the rest of the media. He painted himself as a successful local real estate developer, but he had no local business and was entirely backrolled by his parents in Southern California trying to buy Sonny a House seat. I expect Dems crossed over to vote for Starrett, why he did as well as he did (though he did outspend DesJarlais).
Joe Carr’s run against Diane Black was ill-advised, as there was no overwhelming sense from the grassroots that she needed to go. With her smashing victory, she is expected to run for Governor in 2 years ostensibly as the standard-bearer for Conservatives. She stands a good chance at becoming TN’s 1st woman Governor.
I went to bed early last night when perennial candidate George Flinn (fortified with a large bankroll) was leading in TN-8. I did not support him, nor Kustoff, a former Dubya U.S. Attorney. The Conservative support was for State Sen. Brian Kelsey. Kustoff is marginally better than Flinn, but I’m not thrilled here.
As for State Rep. Curry Todd in your last link. He’s a sad figure, to be sure. If I remember correctly, Todd had been diagnosed with cancer and later ended up a DUI/Gun charge. He was close to the party establishment and embattled Speaker Beth Harwell, who has embarrassed herself as of late with her war against State Rep. Jeremy Durham, who got himself into a pickle (but no worse than your typical Democrats and their sex scandals, so seeing Dems howl about him while back Hillary is hilarious).
Anyway, Todd was really scraping bottom being caught on camera stealing lawn signs for his opponent. He lost in an epic landslide last night, getting just 18.9% of the vote. The only person who will miss him is Harwell (whom I hope loses her Speakership).
