d have loved nothing more than to give Ghostbusters a glowing review. Seriously! Can you imagine a better troll? Extolling the virtues of a film that my loyal readership has been warring with social justice warriors over for months? But I cant. You see, I strive to be honest with my audience. I went into Ghostbusters with a clear and impartial mindset, like some tall, slim, and devastatingly handsome statue of justice. (But no blindfold. It would be a crime to cover up these eyes.)

Who ya gonna call ?
WEIGHT WATCHERS !!!!
(grin)
I thought Chris Hemsworth as the receptionist was the funniest of them all!
$46 million opening is actually really good for a comedy (highest in years, and highest of any of the major’s participants careers). Problem is Sony spent way too much making it. It’s amazing how often movie studios fail in scope control. Uncontrolled costs make a hit (which within normal comedy revenue is where Ghostbusters landed) into a bomb.
My dear elderly (progreesive) mother doesn’t understand why her divorced son isn’t too keen on dating here in NYC.
See the new Ghostbusters trailer, mom.
Usually comedies are cheap but this one required blockbuster type levels of [bad] CGI.
“What we are left with is a movie to help lonely middle-aged women feel better about themselves after being left on the shelf.”
An excellent analysis!
Most of the budget went to craft services.
Why is everyone talking about this movie all the time? I have never heard anything good about it at all. I wouldn’t watch it if it were free on tv. Life is short.
Annie Potts as Janine with her thick NYC accent and attitude is way hotter than these Social Justice Warrior bimbos.
Now THAT is funny!
I don’t think it required it, they just used it. Really CGI can be done cheaply, it’s the favorite tool of low budget indie movies. Vulture.com’s got a good article on it, basically Sony “thought” they were greenlighting the first in another shared universe series, they were going to Marvel their ghosts. So they gave it a superhero movie budget, and of course the way Hollywood works movies always spend all the budget. They could have made the movie for 30 or 40 million, and not had the psycho ad blitz, and had the same opening, and be on their way to a profitable movie. But they got big eyes disease.
That is one scorching review.
The guy can write.
Who ya NOT gonna call? BALL busters!
But even he is not worth sitting though this mess.
Maybe someday someone will put together a montage of his scenes only and post it on Youtube.
yep.
I remember the original lampooned the college education system and the EPA and other institutions. I doubt any of that made it into this remake.
Annie Potts as Janine
AMEN! My wife mentioned going to see the new one but I goofed around enough to put it off until it is no longer in theatres.
