New Dwarf Planet Discovered Far Beyond Pluto's Orbit

Pluto isn't quite as lonely as scientists had thought.

Astronomers have discovered another dwarf planet in the Kuiper Belt, the ring of icy objects beyond Neptune. But this newfound world, dubbed 2015 RR245, is much more distant than Pluto, orbiting the sun once every 700 Earth years, scientists said. (Pluto completes one lap around the sun every 248 Earth years.)

"The icy worlds beyond Neptune trace how the giant planets formed and then moved out from the sun," discovery team member Michele Bannister, of the University of Victoria in British Columbia, said in a statement. "They let us piece together the history of our solar system."

...

The exact size of 2015 RR245 is not yet known, but the researchers think it's about 435 miles (700 kilometers) wide. Pluto is the largest resident of the Kuiper Belt, with a diameter of 1,474 miles (2,371 km).

The research team first spotted 2015 RR245 in February of this year, while poring over images that the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope in Hawaii took in September 2015 as part of the ongoing Outer Solar System Origins Survey (OSSOS).

"There it was on the screen — this dot of light moving so slowly that it had to be at least twice as far as Neptune from the sun," Bannister said.

As FOX news says, we WILL be required to show our ID, so I’m thinking it got approved. People here are just fed up with illegals and LV being a “sanctuary” city.

I’ve had my shower and put on the one thermal shirt I have that really makes me happy and that is my Kermit The Frog shirt! I need more thermals to get me through the year, as I need enough to last two weeks, between washings.

Yesterday, I DID get the flat storage container off my sofa and full of not-quite-finished projects and the odd skein or ball of yarn, and it is out of sight, on end, in between boxes in the coat closet.

I need to put away a few things that are cluttering the sofa, but it will take five minutes for that. Then I need to vacuum. I’m having company tomorrow morning.

I have to take my good watch to the jewelers and get a new battery, and my cheap watch to Walmart to get a cheap battery, but I may or may not have the money for that. I still have to pay the attorney part of his “retainer,” as he allowed me to make payments, but even that hurts. Still I had no choice.

I wish you good times and cheap times.

In this part of the country, we have the Washington Times.

Does that mean you don’t need an ID to buy a gun, either?

"First, the Radiator Springs shown in “Cars” is a fictional town. Historic Route 66 exists. On the real Route 66, there is a Baxter Springs in Kansas and a Peach Springs in Arizona. But Radiator Springs does not exist, except in the imaginations of Pixar's artists and writers."

Perfection, Nevada is the home of the Graboids in the Tremors franchise.

Perfection is 'near' Carson City.

So is the area where hundreds of nuclear warheads were used, uhh, tested.

Coincidence? I think not!

There’s neither a ‘we’ or a ‘u’ in American. But there is an ‘i’.

Afternoon!

I’m back from my prayer group and now thinking about Naptime. Jake is sitting on the Wall Street Journal, so I don’t forget about him. Pat is lurking just out of my line of sight, no doubt expecting to start programming any minute now.

I went out to sit with the peeps, and Chuck, bless his heart, will not listen to anyone who has suggestions other than what he is already doing.

F’erinstance: Instead of spending $1000 to get his truck fixed, he will spend $800 on clothes and $150 on party stuff. Eh???

I can only take so much sitting there and listening his complaints and then I suffer from ear pollution and have to leave.

And all he does is complain about not having the money to get his truck fixed. So we don’t like listening to him, because in the last six months, he’s had enough money at one time to fix the truck twice. But he bought clothes and party stuff.

So none of us has too much patience with him.
