Not a finer handgun made, IMHO.
OK you Glock-o-phobes, have at it!
Love both the Glock 17 and 19 as they are awesome guns, easy to care for, durable and very accurate. However with today’s threats the FBI agents will be badly outgunned with 9-mm Lugar. I go with the Glock 31 (.357 Sig) or 20 (10-mm Auto) myself.
RE G19:
I agree. It’s my go-to companion, always.
It is the AK47 of the handgun world - it ALWAYS works.
I carry a variety of handguns.S&W model 19,HK USP,a vintage 1911A1,among others.
I keep coming back to the model 19 because of the round it chambers.
No finer handgun molded, perhaps.
I don’t hate the G19, I have one. But if I were up against jihadists or drugged up crazies I would rather have a 10mm. Maybe the new transgender recruits can’t handle anything with more recoil than the 9mm.
How come they get hi-cap mags? Not everybody can legally own them.
USMC MARSOC went to GLOCK 19 about one year ago.
I recently purchased my first Glock, a 43, and will be buying a 19 not too long from now.
For those who question the durability of Glocks, a must see video is Iraqveteran8888’s torture test of the Glock on Youtube. I was a holdout on Glocks.......until I saw this video. Amazing guns.
My top three in no particular order are: Glock, Sig Sauer and FN.
Some of you are just not professional enough to carry a Glock-40. /sarc
To cater to diversity, are the new firearms also going to have sights mounted on the side so they can be fired ‘ghetto’?
I have shot Glocks a bunch,
I still like my Kimber.
Lot of Glocks out there though
I guess Glocks are fine, I just don’t like the feel of them. Which is a pretty important thing for a gun owner, but at the same time is not necessarily a criticism of Glocks as such.
I did read an in depth piece on how / why the switch to 9mm came about. Logical move IMO.
I’m about to learn me some shootin with a Springfield XDM 9mm. Have heard some great things about it. The owner of said gun is the most accurate shooter at his range.
My G-17 disagrees. :-)
My G-17 disagrees. :-)
Why were the results poor?
10mm is a good round, but I can see how some people wouldn't be able to handle it.
The 40 S&W is basically a 10mm with a smaller cartridge (and less powder, and less recoil). I'm not sure why they are abandoning that.
I've shot a 40 S&W all day in competition. In a full-size gun, it's easy to handle. It can be a handful in a sub-compact handgun, but I'm referring to the G-27. The G-23 is the compact (same size as the G-19) the FBI was using, and a good balance between size and recoil.
The G-23 has two less rounds in the magazine, but I'm not sure why that would be an issue. I can swap magazines as almost as fast as I would be shooting outside a competition.
The article claims "30 years of ballistic improvements" to the 9mm. What exactly would this be, and does it include higher-pressure loading that would have as much recoil as the 40 S&W?
They need to carry hammer fired pistols or DA/SA. Especially the agencies that minimally train their agents. Way to many negligent discharges.
I prefer the XD and XDS from Springfield, but to each their own.
See? I do celebrate diversity.

They’re fairly accurate and damn reliable, hell I’d even recommend them but I’ll never own one. I do not like plastic pistols! I’ll stick with non-plastic Sig’s and Browning Hi-Powers.
