Feeling drowsy after lunch is completely natural, according to Dr Fiona Kerr, a neuro specialist from the University of Adelaide, who explains that humans are “built for two sleeps a day”.

I was backpacking in the Beartooths in Montana a number of years ago.

A rainstorm came up, like they can in the mountains.

We all found spots under rock outcroppings, to get out of the rain. (No lightning)

20 minutes later, my friends found me sleeping, standing up, wedge into the rock outcropping.

In the movie Sniper, Tom Berenger goes to sleep in a swamp or pool of water. I jokingly thought...amateur.

I think I could probably sleep almost anywhere.

Big Mac, fries, and cola!
Oh my!

I do interval training with one max day a week.
Sometimes my legs turn to rubber within a few beats of max, most of the time I ride it at max?

A friend suggested Heart Rate Variability (HRV) training.
Just into it for a few weeks, but what I eat and how I sleep; BIG DIFFERENCE!
The HRV knows what I ate and how I sleep!!!
And it has been right on about running the redline.

Another told me, one beer and he can feel it, the next day, without the HRV.

I used to believe, the hotter the fire the better the burn!
Now I’m thinking what you burn makes a BIG difference!

And I remember the shirt!!!

4pm - tea and biscuits like the Brits do.

A siesta goes with that, as in Spain?

“humans are “built for two sleeps a day”

Notice the Intelligent Dexign terminology coming from a Darwininst atheist?

This sort of pseudoscience or quasi science is the new ethos in the UK.

Not necessarily utter nonsensical Just-so stories, but Just-so stories nonetheless.

This so-called Evolutionary Psychology takes the place of traditional Judeo-Christian world view and also the earlier secular Freudian worldview.

Spending the evening in a bomb crater, I awoke at daylight in the rain, semi submerged.
My buddies, thought it better to let me sleep.
And I did slept well!

I lived in Europe for 10 years and loved that siesta. The evening is so much more pleasant. Also when I had a child who napped, I’d nap too. I really miss it!

I used to leave my boss’ door slightly ajar while he power napped and told those who came to see him that he was busy but would contact them as soon as he was available. He was pushing 60 and arrived dressed as sharp dressed man every day at 5am. We never discussed it but I know he appreciated my consideration, discretion and diplomacy.

About once a week, I need a nap in the afternoon. They last between 9 and 15 minutes. If I take one, I can work until bedtime. If I need one and don’t take it, my productivity is shot for the rest of the day.

Very considerate!
It is good to have thoughtful employees.
They are the productive ones!

We had some outside tables for nice weather and smokers.
Like herding cats, I would go out, to insure none were lost.

One day a few of them pulled me aside, ‘better take a look at this’!
Thinking they taped a sleeper to a chair, or worse! And how will I explain this one?

I find a trainee, barfing his guts out!
He returned the next morning to tell me his girlfriend was pregnant, and left.

I never saw him again!

An afternoon nap with my grandchildren; is a joyful experience!

Typically my nap is ~15 minutes, they often sleep longer.

It can be difficult to extract myself from the couch!
