West Point cadet draws outrage after being caught using her cellphone during march

Veterans are outraged that a West Point cadet decided to phone it in during a march on Saturday morning.

The cadet, who was wrapping up a 47-month training experience and graduating, had her eyes glued to her phone instead of paying attention to marching.

That is just sick. Davy Crockett was right. We should abolish West Point. We get better officers nowadays from Western Kentucky University, Texas A&M, the University of Alabama, et al and its cheaper too.

It’s hard to tell from the pic but I suspect they were not actually moving in step. There’s no need for it. After their first year they just get into line and move together without even thinking about it. It’s been trained into them like circus animals.

If that is marching in formation, then these folks were not taught how to march in formation.

Their eyes are all over the place and they are out of step.

My guess is that they were walking to the stadium. That would have been a route step formation. And if it’s graduation day, I am willing to give her a pass.

Not exactly a march. They are route stepping from the barracks to Michie Stadium for graduation. Technical term is a gaggle. If it was a parade, they would all be in the same uniform, i.e. trousers not skirts.

My relative was a cadet there long before the first women were snuck in. But even then there was talk about it, and one of the cadet publications included an amusing lampoon of what the co-ed Academy would be like.
