Full title: 'NCIS' Star Sean Murray on Michael Weatherly's Final Episode and New Beginnings: 'People Are Afraid of Change'
It's the end of the road for NCIS' Michael Weatherly.
The 47-year-old star bids farewell on Tuesday to the longtime CBS procedural after 13 seasons and more than 300 episodes playing the charming goofball, NCIS Special Agent Tony DiNozzo. Though Weatherly acknowledged that the end was inevitable, jokingly telling ET's Kevin Frazier earlier this month that he "should've left years ago," his co-star and friend Sean Murray remains hopeful for the occasional cameo.
"[In] the world of NCIS, characters come and go -- even when they're deceased sometimes," Murray, who portrays NCIS Special Agent Timothy McGee, tells ETonline. "If Michael were to do the odd episode here or there, or drop in to the NCIS world for a special occasion, that's something that could very well happen. He has talked about [that] and said that he would love to do it."

one of the problems with the show is that they have not allowed there forensic character to grow and change you can see that she is a forty something actor trying to pretend to be thirty. it does not work anymore.

the writing seems different, the story lines are not as exciting as the previous 8 seasons
That is a problem with many long-running series. They run out of material and become repetitive.
I was watching an episode of Castle several weeks ago, and wondered -- in how many more episodes will Castle and Becket get kidnapped. [ABC answered that by cancelling Castle.] The same happens with the major characters on Rizolli and Isles. It seems that each major character has to have an episode of them being kidnapped, and 'Jane' has been kidnapped several times. Then, of course, they all seem to have that one old nemesis that recurs.
And how many more ways can Hollywood writers find to display mangled bodies? There are a dozen shows based on that concept.

I heard that before the series started Michael Weatherly was in Australia filming a movie where his character was Robert Wagner. He found out that that Donald Bellesario was in the area and crashed his dinner at a restaurant because he wanted to be on NCIS. Obviously he got the part and ironically Robert Wagner became his dad on the show.
Also, there have been a few new small characters on the last few NCIS episodes that may become a new team member.

Definitely didnt watch the episode with Moo.
Luckily, that segment came near the end of the episode. I managed to change the channel as Gibbs was standing in the hallway at the White House.

But lesbian Linda Hunt, aka Hetty, is not needed and is a waste of production money. Shes always freaked me out on any show shes been on.Yes, the midget lesbian doesn't add much to the show any longer. I thought her character was kind of funny in the early days because she had the reputation of being a legendary badass. Now she just sits at her desk and utters pearls of wisdom. I like Miguel Ferrer as the Assistant Director.
Another thing that has always bothered me is Callan's lack of a past to the point that he doesn't even know his first name. I'm not comfortable with such a guy having the security clearance he has to have. Maybe when they do a series finale, Callan will turn out to be a Soviet sleeper agent.
My wife can't stand that Alabama guy from NCIS: NO either.

That is what I posted in brackets in my post #25.
Castle was a toss-up for renewal. They had already decided to write Becket and another female character out, if they had another season.
Ironcially, Castle was almost cancelled after the first season. They didn’t. Since then, many episodes have had the highest viewership for the evening. Castle helped save ABC.

Tony Trivia. During a few episodes, Tony refers to his uncle who made a fortune importing things like Swiss army knives. In reality, that was Michael's father, Michael Manning Weatherly, Sr. who himself made a fortune as a Swiss army knife importer.
Though my wife and I have enjoyed this show for many years, and with the exception of Person of Interest, the only broadcast show I watch, I occasionally get a bit jiggy when I see McProaby doing things via electronic surveillance that most FReepers would frown upon (not to mention the fact he does in in a few keyboard clicks).

The problem for Michael Weatherly is he has been very lucky to be on a hit show for 13 years. I hope he had a good residual deal so that he gets paid for the show being in syndication as that is where the real money is.
He should have stayed on until the show ran it's course.
Paul Guilfoyle, who played Capt. Jim Brass on CSI, stayed the course. Another guy who I hope had a good residual deal.
In any event most TV actors as lucky to be on one long running show and never are able to duplicate that success anywhere else. Good luck to Weatherly as I hope he finds another show that has a good run.

What little I saw was funny, the fake Now Orleans southern accents were terrible.

....filming a movie where his character was Robert Wagner. IIRC, he played Robert Wagner in a TV movie about Natalie Wood's death.

Used to love the show.
Stopped loving the show the episode where they went to NSA headquarters and it looked like Google headquarters and all the NSA people were young and hip. And they picked up that blonde bag of crap who ran circles around Gibbs and MgGee. She was more annoying than Clara Oswald.
Started not loving it before that, when it became obvious that they were writing disinformation and propaganda. So, when NSA was cool and non-threatening and they got a Power Girl, that was it.
Was glad of my decision when I saw Weatherly played Jesus in a Sara Silverman video and told her abortion was cool.
Good luck to all of them, I guess.
(Man, am I becoming an old grouch!)

One of the funny things I remember was when Gibbs said when Ducky was younger he looked like Illya Kuryakin.
