A prolific Indiana political blogger wrote an ominous post last week predicting a Donald Trump victory in his state — and soon afterward committed suicide, police said.
Gary Welsh, a lawyer who managed his Advance Indiana blog since 2005, was found in his Indianapolis apartment around 8 a.m. Sunday with a gunshot wound, according to the Indianapolis Star. Officers found him in a stairwell, dead at the scene, according to a police report.

Huh? “Cruz” is never the possessive of “Cruz.”
In a stairwell, is that a common place for suicides, ones that don’t take place in D.C. parks?

“Jesus’” and “Socrates’” and “Hercules’” are correct, because they are ancient historical or fictional personages.
For modern people with names ending in “s,” the correct possessive is made by adding “’s” to the name.

“Ted Cruz’ failed campaign” is wrong on two counts: “Cruz” does not end in “s,” and Ted Cruz is not an ancient personage.
The signs one sees in front of suburban homes are almost always incorrect:

The Smiths
The Smiths’
Incorrect:
The Smith’s
The Jones’

I’m almost 70, so am not a “modern” person. That’s what we were taught if the name ends either in S or Z. Just add an apostrophe, or an apostrophe plus S.
It’s common for people to say “Me and Sally went to the park”, and I guess that’s accepted now. Drives me insane.

Yes I find it noteworthy. My comment was more about two Cruz bashing threads in ten minutes than about that thread. If there is any substantive information I’m open to look at it. But rumor, innuendo, and speculation doesn’t cut it for me.

Poor grammar from TV. I will use it in a joking manner, once in awhile.
And in the gangsta talk. I actually heard a ridiculous pronunciation of “buttons” on ABC about 6 months ago. Astonishing. I think it comes from a “children’s book” that intentionally teaches it that way. Incredible.
Gee... I can’t even imagine there are two ways to pronounce, “buttons”. Things that make you go, “Hmmmmm”.
