Full Title: When Simon met Sammie: The uplifting moment a Boxer puppy who was shot in the head, dragged behind car and left for dead is comforted by another abused pooch at the vet

Two abused dogs have found a buddy for life in each other while they recover from their harrowing ordeals in a South Carolina veterinary clinic. Sammie, a four-month-old boxer puppy, was brought to a kill shelter by his 'owner' after the heartless individual spray-painted him, shot him in the head, and then dragged him behind a car. The poor pooch was left for dead, but after hanging on for three days in agonizing pain, someone brought Sammie to a shelter.

The shelter rushed the dog to Paws & Claws Animal Clinic in Columbia, and a New York City-based rescue group, Rescue Dogs Rock NYC, agreed to foot the bill for the pup and then adopt him out to a good home when he's recovered. Meanwhile, also at the vet, a four-year-old border collie named Simon, who was recovering from his own abuse, spotted Sammie recovering from surgery and decided to make a pawsitive impact on him by offering some comfort while he was on the operating table. It's unclear what happened to Simon, but much of his fur is missing, showing the tender pink skin underneath, probably from mange.

Since then, Simon won't leave Sammie's side, according to The Dodo. The two have been pictured communing inside of Sammie's cage and nuzzling each other.

What the actual ****!?

I’m really happy for the pup, but Holy Heck I would like to put its owner in an iron maiden and close the door.

People are horrible. What could drive a sane person to do to these puppies what they did?

Drugs!?

I wish I could take them both so they’d be together for life. We’ve had more than forty rescued animals in our 38 years of marriage, but now we are really too old to take on anymore, and say we’ll be here for them as long as they live.

I pray they get the best people in the World to make up for the time they had the worst.

Boxer and Aussie Shepherd. Soul, and brains. A real dynamic duo.

I still don't think the ex-owner would get the point.

I hope those dogs get adopted by the same family. animals form connections to other animals that are just as valid as the connections humans make to other people.

I can’t understand how someone could do this either. Just evil. I have my four dogs sitting around me as I type. I have the max number for my county zoning or I would consider those two. I am sure that the publicity will bind them a good home together.

“animals form connections to other animals that are just as valid as the connections humans make to other people.”

That’s the truth. We have two outdoor cats that are best buddies. They’re both tomcats, and the older one is all scarred up from fighting with all of the other tomcats in the neighborhood, but these two play together until it’s time to curl up and take a nap side by side. Best friends.

Me too. At the very least the monster who did this deserves to have both hands and feet crushed with a sledge hammer. Bare minimum. Then lock him up for life.

To fast, just tie him to a chair and inject him with battery acid.
Wait 10 seconds, then cut him loose and watch him bounce.

Chris,

About once a year our rescue gets a German shepherd from a shelter who was used as a target. Just unbelievable cruelty.

People like you, who take rescue animals and give them good homes, are a real blessing.

We have always rescued and adopted shelter dogs. Now, were looking for a larger place simply to be able to care for more of these angels.

To us it is more rewarding than trying to reason with most people for their betterment or that of the community.

Actually, I must correct you on the erroneous perception of the iron maiden.

It was a wickedly cruel device in that the spike inside were placed in such a way to pierce some of the most painful areas of the body, such as the eyes, the bladder, the base of the penis and other places where you never ever want to have a spike, yet none of the wounds are fatal.

Also, with having two doors, one main door and one for the face, you could open one while leaving the other closed, so the person inside would still be locked in place by spikes, and then the open door could be closed again thus piercing all of the wounds again.

And it goes on like that until they expire days later.

And they have to stand the whole time.

That makes me absolutely insane with anger.

If I ever saw anyone do this, so help me God, I would go Dexter on them in the worst possible way.
