I'm off on a two week vacation to a part of Kentucky where they've heard of whiskey and muzzle loading rifles - but not the internet.
So bye bye FR, and I'll see you later in May.......

Well I live 7 miles from town but have 15 Mbps internet speed. Don’t forget the Derby on Saturday. Sorry, no inside tips though.

You havent lived until youve fired a flintlock!I've fired some lovely flintlocks over the years, especially a fantastic swivel breach that I swear I could hit the bullseye all day long due to how smooth the action was. The biggest shame is that there's so few beautiful pieces like that, and most of them are sitting in places of honor in collections, not where they really should be, in the hands of shooters on the range.
Alas, most people who have experiences with flintlocks will be with some pretty bad actions.

I have a little short barrel flintlock that’s fun to shoot. Not exactly traditional in terms of size, and with a modern barrel twist, so it can handle 50 cal slugs, but it’s still made from traditional materials, and equipped with a double trigger. Once you set it you barley have to touch it. It’s pretty accurate and can handle both patch and ball and slugs ok.

I was lucky enough to be well into the industry when some great saboted copper hollow points were developed for snout loaders, and if there was something that would get me to leave behind the knife and strip of patch cloth, it was those.
