If you've felt your blood pressure rise after seeing passengers being served champagne on the tarmac while you're fighting for overhead space in coach, you are not alone.
A new study finds that class division in the skies can have a real and occasionally dangerous effect on passengers in both sections of a plane.
And when economy-class passengers are forced to pass through the luxurious first-class area on their way to the cramped economy seats, the rate of air rage incidents is more than seven times higher than if there were no first-class seats at all. Researchers report that the simple presence of a first-class cabin on an airplane is correlated with a nearly fourfold increase in the chance of an air rage incident in economy class.

They pay for it though. First class isn’t just a little bit more, it’s a whole lot more. Many times more.
Only x amount of tickets are allowed for frequent flier award seats, and usually opened within a few weeks of departure. Also in that is using miles for upgrade, either a couple of weeks before departure or at check in.
If at the gate, if there are still seats left unsold, then high mileage FFs can get upgraded.
Revenue ALWAYS comes before non revenue generating FFs.
Most of the people in premium seats are revenue producing seats.
What the hell is happening in this country? Look at it this way, when that plane crashes all us poor slobs can watch the rich die first. Happy Now complaining beotches.
If the airlines do not deliberately make flying coach as uncomfortable as possible then how can they get you to pay more for premium seats?
I know the 757 does. The 767 may as well.
I always thought the same thing.....last on first off sounds perfect to me.
I understand the economics of the situation of smaller seats, but it is contrary to increasing size of passengers. Thirty years ago, I was one of larger passengers on a plane. Now, there are a lot more passengers bigger than me. And yet, the seats get smaller...
It sounds like a “white privilege” situation to me.
The airlines won't care about passenger comfort until it starts costing them money.
At this point, I've reduced my air travel to business only, and avoid that as much as possible. So airlines make much less from me than they did ten years ago.
See #92. They have lost me as a willing customer.
I fly coach on business, not that I have a choice. But I'll shell out more for first class on vacations.
As long as it is in the continental US, I drive for vacation.
You mean we gotta sit on benches? Sure, we can get more on board that way.
Man, that coffee’s just not working yet. I swear, the first three times I read that sentence it said “crayon” instead of “carryon.”
Wow. I generally feel good when someone has a good thing going because sometimes I get the good end and heaven knows everyone is gonna suffer sometime too. It would never occur to me to get mad at first class folks. You get what you pay for end in some way those seats.make.other seats on the.plane cheaper.
My cube-mate just applied for TSA Pre-Check. It cost $85. Now why do folks have to pay to overcome government incompetence? You and I know it does not cost $85 to check the records and issue a number. I told him it’s just another example of life being a crap sandwich...the most ‘bread’ you have the less you taste the crap!
