Opponents of new laws such as North Carolina’s HB2, which ban transgendered males and females from entering any bathroom other than the bathroom which corresponds with their birth gender, may be ignoring incidents which already occur when men enter women’s bathrooms.
Such crimes are already causing problems for women and girls, the police, as well as the court systems which must try and convict anyone charged with indecencies against females in public restrooms.
Last week, a Pennsylvania man was arrested for taking photos of a 10-year-old girl in a public restroom.
James Thomas Shoemaker, 19, a Quarryville, Pa., resident was arrested at the Manheim Pike Sheetz store. He was found hiding in the stall of the women’s restroom.
When police looked at the images on his cell phone, they found pictures of young girls.

Well maybe a few incidents of ‘traumatized’ females running, screaming, from the bathrooms into the stores will be a start? Hmmm...what if it happened every day in every store? There aren’t that many transvestites( I hope) but I suggest women out there who are offended not miss any opportunity to cause a scene. Fall out,scream, claim psychological damage. Then too- laughing like hell IN the bathrooms might be effective. It’s SHAME that needs to be brought back to society. Basic shame.

Peeping Toms always found ways to peep.
Sexual predators have always found ways to sexually prey.
This has been going on for ages.
OK now it might be a little easier to get into public toilets and changing rooms, but they could always get in by deceit or stealth or just barging in.
A pictogram on a door is not going to make you safer.
Carrying might make you a little safer but still, in an enclosed “dead end” space you are at risk.
Even men are at risk in these kind of places ... not just public toilets and changing rooms but in any concealed place especially if you are cornered in. You could get robbed or even raped.
This whole issue convoluted. The issue is common decency and decorum. Safety has always been at risk.
My ten year old male or female children were not sent to public bathrooms alone... That was 20+ years ago.
See, there is the answer. Don’t allow children to use public restrooms and its a non-issue.

You got that right... all of it.
There are some transgenders out there, you really can’t tell until they totally undress. Those types however would not do what these perves are doing. This man is just one stage away from rape or child molesting. This child got off lucky.
It’s going to take women screaming from bathrooms for them to do anything. Scream “rape” or “fire” if nothing else.
Then, I hate to say it when something does happen sue them. It was their fault they let men come in there.

That’s not really a bad idea. Parents and children could go in a quiet corner of a store or other business. If confronted, say that you were too fearful of going in the public restrooms.
In an age of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act.
We had that same rule at our house. Always either accompany each other to public restrooms or stand outside the appropriate door and wait. I was more in fear of kidnappings which were all too frequent at that time than of sexual molestation. Now the concern would be for both.
Me too! My mother did the same for me and my sister. I still do it today for my 12 year old.
