Prince's closest friends and family members gathered for a private memorial service at Paisely Park on Saturday, a day after his body was cremated. A sea of purple marked the occasion, with many guests opting to wear the star's favorite color as they celebrated his life. Close friends such as Damaris Lewis, Sheila E, band member Hannah Welton and husband Josh Welton as well as others were spotted entering the property around 2 pm today. They were greeted by security as they made their way into the studio for the service. And at one point in the afternoon extended family members including his only full sibling Tyka Nelson exited the studio to greet fans of the late rock star and to hand out memorabilia in purple gift boxes.
Arangements of purple flowers and catered food were also delivered to the late legends home in Chanhassen, Minnesota, earlier in the day before relatives and friends joined together for the intimate event. Prince's body was quietly released to his family just after 1pm Friday after a four hour autopsy at the Minnesota medical examiners office in Ramsey. With his sister Tyka, her son Prez and another member of the family present, the legend's body was cremated at the First Memorial Western Chapel in Minnesota. His body arrived around 2pm on Friday and the cremation began an hour later. His family waited four hours to be presented with the casket containing his ashes. Because Prince is a Jehovah's Witness he had to have funeral services carried out within a week of his death

I question the use of the word “secretly” when this news is being published in the very public Daily Mail.
Perhaps they meant “privately”?
So? The family can do as they wish
I never knew JW required burial or cremation with a week of your death...
Anybody know why?
I’ve never heard of anyone attending a cremation.
Unless one is a Viking, cremations are rarely public.
Anybody know why?
Because he's Prince.
When my mom passed away last month, it took almost two weeks to schedule her cremation and funeral. That's how backlogged the funeral home and church were.
It's a good time to be in the funeral business. There's a whole bunch of baby boomers and they're starting to drop like flies.
I don’t believe that the family is required to announce a date and time of cremation. I think the word they’re searching for is “private,” not “secret.”
A funeral pyre on a Viking ship with purple sails on Lake Minnetonka at sunset alit.. The Prince rising from the ashes .. Pain free. RIP
Any time I read about such quick cremations, I suspect there was something amiss that needs to be covered up. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia comes to mind.
There was an autopsy and I believe a toxicology report is forthcoming. An odd way to try to hide something, if so.
Agreed.
Detective Mark Furman and the noted Dr. Baden both agreed and stated on Fox that the results of toxology tests regularly are known in about twenty minutes or so after the autopsy is completed.
Why the delay, other than dramatics.

My late sister In law was Japanese. Her brother & father attended her cremation as is their custom. Her husband, my brother in law, just couldn’t bear to witness such an event. So he stayed home.
I hope the autopsy was thorough.
Why, do you think foul play was involved? I don’t, I think he’s had medical problems for a while that have been kept from the public. As far as exactly what I don’t know, but he wasn’t required to make any public disclosure.
there are services at the crematorium and the special casket slides into the oven.
".....did it glow with a bluish tint?
Why the delay, other than dramatics.

There are quick and dirty tox screens that can name the drugs.
Then there are the blood and tissue sample tests that are legally binding and needed for completed autopsy reports and legal issues.
