very sad...as an American of italian heritage I loved her in Everybody Loves Raymond...
classic!!!!
It is one of our favorite shows! She was great & very funny. RIP dear lady.
She sure was. One of my favorite comedies.
Aw heck, National Lampoon’s “Christmas Vacation.”
She was one of those actresses who played the same role every time she was on camera. And frankly, it was a role I never liked. But I have to admit, she did it well. And I have no idea what she was like as a person. So I’ll wish her godspeed to whatever her final destination is.

Katherine Hepburn was another star who played the same person over and over and over. couldn’t act.
I’ve never worshipped Katherine Hepburn like some do, but I’d say she was a passable actress. A lot of stars in those days were cast in identical roles, so in some cases, they were not to blame. In others however, they simply lacked the breadth to take on anything else, so they molded every role to their ability (or lack) rather than vice versa.
She did the tough as nail IRS auditor on RS really well when she came on the show.
I haven’t thought about that old series in decades.
Loved that episode! I’ll have to watch it again,
lol.
Saw her in a play once, in a tiny little theater in LA, which was connected to an old bowling alley. A little acting group, headed by ex-child actor Ted Donaldson as I recall. I don’t even think it was open to the public, but a sort of actors workshop type thing, where they’d practice their acting chops. But I remember seeing and recognizing Doris Roberts from the “Angie” tv-series.

I saw her on Connecticut Avenue walking to her cab after a White House Correspondents’ Dinner (which the DC Chapter freeped) about ten years ago. She was gorgeous in person, lovely skin and hair and beautifully dressed. I had no idea she was that old. Condolences to her family and fans.
I remember her, too, on “Angie” with Donna Pescow.
Gee, I think that was on TV circa 1977 or 1978.
Much as I watch Raymond (right now in fact), I still think of her as Angie’s mom!
I saw an interview with Roberts and Heaton a few years ago. Roberts really went after Heaton. Roberts was just your typical immature nasty knee-jerk liberal bitch.
