Also, apparently Yellowstone was a lot more active a couple of hundred years ago according to the reports of one John Colter, an explorer who visited the are in 1807.

Yeah, you're right MDexpat.. This "this is unprecedented" narrative has indeed "been pushed for years."
For example, amessenger4god links to reference of 34 of 40 active volcanoes to a mid May piece, 2015...an article over 11 months old.
People reading his excerpt think it's a Spring 2016 figure, which is then heightened in light of recent major quakes in Ecuador and Japan.
People: bottom line: read the fine print. THE GOD of the Bible speaks both thru His Word of the past, and if He is speaking thru current catastrophesituation, believe me, He is able to CLEARLY convey that real-time. (He doesn't need murky 11 month old "the underground is burning" bemoanings)

For now. When the sun grows into red giant phase the moon will slow in its orbit eventually reaching the Roche Limit. Buy tickets now for this exciting event!

This is why I love living in a relatively geologically dead part of the planet. I live next to a relatively synaptically dead part of the planet known as Washington DC.

That might be the reason. The gases of little league and volcanoes eruptions walk hand in hand from what I hear. : )
Little League was so boring; I figure I made Sainthood sitting through all those games.

It’s absolutely unprecedented for the 0.00000000001% of the earth’s history that we’ve been watching them.

One of the stupidest things I have ever read from your link:
“... every few hundred thousand years the magnetic poles flip
so that a compass would point south instead of north ...”
Too stupid for words.

The record of the very first volcanic eruptions, that occurred about 4500 years ago, are recorded in Genesis.
Those eruptions severed Pangea into a half dozen separate continents.
