MILWAUKEE (AP) Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump is pushing rival John Kasich to get out of the White House race, arguing that the Ohio governor shouldn't be allowed to collect future delegates because the nomination is already beyond his grasp.

"If I didn't have Kasich, I automatically win," Trump said Sunday evening in West Allis, Wisconsin.

Trump pulls the win tomorrow.
Hey Donald!
Hillary won’t quit either.
Wanna whine about that?
It's not your time, John.
He needs to File a Federal Lawsuit and claim he has a RIGHT to be the Nominee.
Affirmative Action Donnie. feeling some micro aggression.
Someone get Donnie a SAFE ZONE!
Sniveling 4 year old.
EARN it Donnie!
If he doesn't then you shut your pie hole until after the election. Deal?
Sore loser...Trump
Excuse me...HE IS WINNING!
That’s it. Can’t take FR today....people like you are too smart to fall for Cruz’s con job.
So disappointed.
How can that be? EVERYONE knows Cruz is a tool of the establishment just lime Kasich. The only one with any morals is Trump. I mean EVERYONE knows that....
Gag and barf.
Yeah right. Off to New York!
I don’t think Trump is correct. There are a whole lot more NeverTrump voters than there are NeverCruz voters (in addition to the overlap between the groups everywhere but FR). If Kasich drops, the anti-Trump forces can unite behind Cruz. I plan to vote Trump, and I do not want Kasich to drop out.
Now now, don't be to hard on little Donnie. He probably hadn't had his nap today and he can only focus on throwing one trumpertantrum at a time.
Give him 18 hours to see if he theatens to sue.
The Little Lord Fauntleroy isn't used to anyone standing up to him and not doing what he says.
LOLO, You are killing me !
I actually agree with Trump about this. Trump is basically saying, if it is him against Cruz, he can consistently get more than 50% of the delegates in a two man race. He might be right.
Cruz argues the converse. He believes that HE could get over 50% of teh delegates in a two man race.
There remains a 15-20% portion of the electorate who is sold on neither Cruz nor Trump, and it is up to those two to either win them over, or for Kasich to decide to get out on his own.
Exactly Right!!!
If anyone in this race is totalitarian, it's the GOPe trying to rig the elections against the voters' will.
It really does not matter. I am not sure why Trump is concerned at this point. In two or three weeks Cruz will have no mathematical way to get a majority of the delegates before the convention. At that point voting for either Cruz or Kasich is a vote for giving the GOP party leadership the choice of who they want to be the nominee. I can guarantee that it won’t be either Cruz or Trump.
Those who believe that Cruz will somehow get the nomination on the “2nd Vote” have obviously never participated in the process that determines people who actually get to go to the convention. They should look at Tennessee if they want an example of how it works. Not only were Trump and Cruz people not allowed to be delegates, they weren’t even allowed to go to the meeting. Delegates are picked based on their past party participation and donations, not on who they support. At least that is how it works where I live and every other part of the country that I am familiar with.
It is very surprising to me that on a political forum how many people have obviously never participated in party politics. They should go out and get their hands a little dirty and see how it really works this time. It would be an eye opening experience.
Trump has been right there sending money to corrupt people like the Clintons, but I guess you are okay with that.
he has been sending money to corrupt people , what like Cruz seeing as cruz took Trumps money too.
OK, you are correct. More specifically, The establishment support that Cruz is currently getting will just poof, disappear once the establishment does not need him anymore. Carl Rove, Paul Ryan, Mitt Romney, Reince Priebus, Lindsay Graham, Mitch McConnell and the rest have all said repeatedly that Cruz will not get the nomination at the convention. Some have changed their tune in the last week or two, but this is complete BS. Cruz is not establishment.
Romney campaigned with Kasich in Ohio and then a couple days later he was campaigning with Cruz in Utah. In Tennessee the GOP not only wouldnt allow Trump and Cruz supporters to be delegates, they wouldnt even allow them in the party meeting. It will be the same in most parts of the country. The way that convention delegates are picked has everything to do with who has been a longtime party supporter and has the deepest pockets and has almost nothing to do with which candidate they are initially obligated to support. If none of the candidates reaches a majority before the convention then the party bosses will pick the nominee. Instead of a guarantee, I would ask you to mark my words so you can remind me later if I am wrong.
Thanks for the well-worded followup. I understand the reasoning, and it has validity in a way a blanket “the omnipotent Establishment” calls all the shots doesn’t.
I believe the Establishment will have control over 25-30% of the delegates, max. Some of these will get pressure to go Trump (northeast) or Cruz (west and south) from local activists who may not be delegates.
Right now, I suspect the 70% of the Establishment fears Trump more than Cruz, and they will go with the enemy they know rather than the enemy they don’t. Like a basketball team down 8 points in the closing seconds they are fouling just to keep the game alive, even as all moves means more delegates for an enemy.
They talk big, ESPECIALLY the Karl Rove types, right before the fall. The Tennessee problem you mention is disheartening (Cruz has decent organization there, too), and Ryan is not a good man for running the convention. We have seen how their predictions have played out so far. NO ONE knows how the first convention with full blown social media, a huge discontented class that cannot be all locked out, and two anti-establishment players with different strengths and committed followings at the same time will play out. It won’t be pretty. Early, I thought that the only way the all-out war could be avoided is if the Establishment was smart enough to meet us half-way and put its weight behind Scott Walker. But noooooo, they had to go all in with John Ellis Bush until all of the somewhat palatable alternatives (for them) were gone-zo. And here we are.
I don’t pretend to know what will happen, but I am personally unwilling to abandon a man I personally trust to shrink government and be consistently pro-life just yet. He has shown a determination to win, as does Trump. In this convention, it will be wise to have as many anti-establishment types who also happen to be decent parliamentarians available. Cruz can bring that. Trump may have some, but not as many.
I am SO looking forward to one of them coming to out of this convention as the Republican nominee, and for all of us to get together again.
I have marked your words. We will see.
