Ouch.

January’s numbers are looking bad for Mark Levin, who has been on a recent Crusade against Donald Trump for his “New York Values.”

Half Step was the second number, after Minglewood. And they stretched it out a bit, clocking it in at over 10 min.

Too bad about the sound at that Jackson gig, but sounded like a real good time.

My last Dead show was in ‘87 at the Ventura County Fairgrounds, an almost annual tour stop for them.

Saw Bobby and the Midnights at a small club in the early ‘80s. Billy Cobham on drums. Quality gig. Weir’s an underrated guitarist.

Better than Don Felder though.....

Man on that epic where Felder is whining that Henley and Frey won’t let him sing

The egos of the creative....

Who sings better than Felder for rock?

It’s a small club

Chris Cornell

Freddie Mercury

Paul Rodgers

Robert Plant....louder not better

Henley is like a good girl singer....he doesn’t have to scream in the mike

I'll be kind a say that Weir is an ...inconsistent singer. Yeah, too kind.

Saw Felder with the Eagles on their last tour before they broke up in 1980, L.A. Forum. I don't remember him singing one song, thank God. That was a really great show.

Paul Rodgers -- one of the best rock voices ever. Ever see Bad Co.? Tight concert band. Mick Ralphs used to stand there like a statue, though. Didn't start to loosen up until the gig was almost over.

Saw Rodgers with Jimmy Page in '83 at the ARMS concert (an MS benefit show for Ronnie Lane), also at the L.A. Forum. Jeff Beck, Clapton, and Joe Cocker were the other acts.

Was never really into fusion, but Return to Forever was the best of the bunch. Weather Report (Joe Zawinul's band) was good too. And the early '70s records of Miles Davis, arguably the genre's originator.

As you probably realized

I attributed Cobhams Spectrum album with Tommy Bolin to Return to Forever

When in fact it was Mahavishnu McLaughlin alum ....and not Return

Jan Hammer too

I’m with you....the commercial jazz and jazz fusion that era was not for me much

Grover Washington and

The white guy with the long straight hair and tophat...trumpet....chuck mangione

The Allman Brothers and Roxy were jazz enough for me

I did like old school Louis Armstrong

Same here -- Louis was the man.

Duke too. But I also very much like to listen to Monk, Mingus, and Miles when I'm in the mood. The real old school standout composers. And instrumentalists Bird and Diz.

Armstrong on bebop: "no melody to remember and no beat to dance to." And unlike many others of his generation of musicians, he never warmed to it.

And IIRC, you also like delta blues, Son House in particular. I've been listening to a lot of Leadbelly lately. More folkish blues than delta.

I know I’ve stopped listening to him.

Up until now, I've sent Levin a $20 donation three or four times a year. Been doing this for five years. I won't be doing any of that again.

Why would you be giving donations to Levin? He earns a lot of money from his radio show and books.

You know, I've never thought that selling books makes any kind of decent income. And not much income from just talking on the radio. But seriously, for the information I derieved from listening to him, it was worth the $60 a year. So, it wasn't that much money and was a nice stipend for the guy.
But after this reading this about Levin, the 'stipend box' is closed.
