An honest question to all Cruz supporters that try to describe Trump as a democrat/liberal. If you believe that Trump really is a democrat, and Cruz can't beat him in the GOP primaries, how in the heck do you expect him to win in the general against a real democrat?
The argument that many Cruz supporters use is that he would beat Hillary in November. Many of these same supporters also claim that Trump is a democrat. My question is specifically to those people. If you guy can’t beat a ‘democrat’ in a GOP primary how in the hell can you rationalize that same guy beating a real democrat in an election that isn’t limited to GOP voters.
I sometimes think Trump should have run as a democrat!
Because he won’t be running against other republicans in the general...
You’re conflating two different races.
One on one against Hillary even poor old Rubio does better than Trump. It is not going to be a cakewalk for him in the general.
Cruz wins in most contests vs. Clinton.
NBC News/Wall St. Jrnl 3/3 - 3/6 1200 RV 2.8 45 47 Clinton +2
CNN/ORC 2/24 - 2/27 920 RV 3.0 49 48 Cruz +1

USA Today/Suffolk 2/11 - 2/15 1000 LV 3.0 45 44 Cruz +1
Trump loses by dreadful margins.

ABC News/Wash Post 3/3 - 3/6 864 RV 4.0 50 41 Clinton +9

FOX News 2/15 - 2/17 1031 RV 3.0 47 42 Clinton +5
Well that is a good hypothetical look at what some poll says but actual results show that as more and more candidates drop out, Trump continues to win. He is getting a portion of the support from each of the candidates that drop out.
I often think that.
If Trump is a liberal, what have you won?
Just me, but Cruz screwed up when he brought Neil Bush into his campaign, voiding any and all claims to not being part of the GOP Establishment.
I’d still like to see him in the Supreme Court but I do not want to see him as President.
Mark my words, President Trump is coming, and he's bringing another "Morning In America" with him. Something between a tidal wave and a tsunami.
Cruz would do better to suspend his campaign, throw his support to Trump, go back to the Senate, roll up his sleeves, and start getting ready for President Trump.
Trump is an opportunist saying whatever it takes to use easily-fooled Conservatives (who keep getting people elected only to get stabbed again and again) to possibly gain the most powerful seat on earth. Nobody knows what he actually will do, and yet the Faith is strong in many here. He also won’t beat Hillary because they poll about even, and yet he consistently pulls in ten points fewer vote leads than predicted. See my large cited posts listing the numbers.
You are basing this on a meaningless, hypothetical head to head poll on a contest that hasn’t even started. I don’t think any reputable pollster would assign any statistical significance to those polls. Reagan trailed Carter by ~30 points in March 1980. Was there any statistical significance to those polls? Should Reagan have dropped out in March because he was about to get landslided by Carter?
What a pitiful thing to say.
The Burn and Thunder Thighs are not Democrats.
I support Cruz on principle. Period.
Because they ignore turnout.
The majority of Republicans have been rejecting Trump, but they have been divided among all the alternatives, so Trump has won primaries with pluralities. When the party can unite behind one Not-Trump, that candidate will do much better against Hillary than will Trump, the most disliked politician across America, the one with the highest unfavorable ratings ever recorded.
Hell, why don’t we nominate Algore and get lots of Democrat votes in the general election?
Trump is an opportunist. That just makes him LOOK like a Democrat.
