He failed the physical due to bone spurs. Some seem to imply the doc was paid off although that is not confirmed. So, some consider him a draft dodger. That being said, our Vietnam Veterans are the bravest generation of all. They served knowing once there, our government would abandon them and if they were lucky enough to return home, they would be spit on. Yet they served with honor and dignity. That folks, is a true American Hero!

Guys did not get out of the draft by “lying about bone spurs’. If it had been that simple, few would have been drafted. There had to medical evidence discovered by or verified by Selective Service physicians.

The facts in the case are that he had a medical cause of ineligibility. The armed forces gets to decide if you are fit for duty and they don’t take the draftee’s word for anything.

Trump received four 2S deferrals while he was a student, one a year from 1964 to 1968.
When he graduated in 1968 he was reclassified 1-A.
Shortly after that he was reclassified 1-Y, available to be drafted in a national emergency.
No doctor ever gave a Trump a letter declaring him unfit for service. That is simply a lie being propagated by some Trump haters.
The lowest rating Trump received was 1-Y. He remained 1-Y until 1972 when the Selective Service itself abolished the 1-Y class and reclassified all 1-Ys as 4-F.
