Donald Trump isn’t funny anymore, and we all have to stop him
Washington Post ^ | 2-29-2016 | Michael R. Strain

The president is our head of state — our chief public representative, a living symbol of the nation. However he would actually govern, Trump is simply unfit to hold this office.

He called for a Muslim registry. He wants to send Syrian refugees back to Syria. He has publicly employed misogyny and has publicly enumerated lists of women with whom he would like to have sex. He has mocked the disabled. He admires Vladimir Putin. He might have ties to organized crime. From the start, his campaign has appealed to the darker angels of our nature, generating support by attacking the vulnerable and rousing fear and suspicion of the other. It is no surprise that years before the 2016 campaign, Trump was a leading figure stirring suspicion that President Obama was not born in the United States.

Trump is deeply morally offensive. Why would we assume he would not continue to be that way as president?

His campaign spokeswoman, Katrina Pierson, tweeted the following in 2012: “Perfect Obama’s dad born in Africa, Mitt Romney’s dad born in Mexico. Any pure breeds left?” National Review wrote about this last month, arguing that Pierson’s “nativism includes a bizarre streak of anti-Catholicism,” among other ugliness. Why does Trump continue to employ her? Why would we assume his White House press secretary would be any different?

And don’t forget this weekend’s atrocious incident in which Trump initially declined to condemn the Ku Klux Klan.

[Donald Trump isn’t funny anymore...]

Little Ruby TRIED his comedy routine with “...and you know what they say about men with small hands”

Nice try little fella’ ,with a short man complex, but the saying is about the size of a man’s feet.

So what is the size of your little booties?

The era of Reagan is over, but not forgotten.

Thanks to Trump, we're now reliving some of best parts of the Reagan years every day!

Trump's no Reagan, obviously, but I'm having Reagan flashbacks watching people meltdown and their heads explode at just the mere mention of a POTUS Trump! Wahoo!

Reagan had mastered the craft, but Trump has shown his skills early and he definitely has a style of his own.

Humor is where you find it and finding much humor in our politics had become a challenge until Trump showed up.

Now, there's always someone or something to laugh about and I see that trend continuing for a while. I hope that Trump is up to it!

Interesting how all of the sudden information that should have been common knowledge and could have been made known after Trump entered the race is making news now. I do not believe this to be accidental.

I believe a bad political calculation was made both on the part of the GOP establishment and to a lesser extent on the part of those more likely to support Cruz and other more conservative candidates in the race.

The old guard GOP establishment believed Trump could be used a a means to harm Cruz, Carson, Fiorina, etc., those not in the GOP establishment. Their calculation was that the Trump voter and the voter supporting Cruz and others were one in the same. They did not believe Trump would garner widespread support but did believe he would tear enough support away from others to keep them from becoming serious contenders, paving the way for more palatable candidates.

What I call the Tea Party establishment made much the same poor calculation. They were a bit indifferent to Trump early on, but were happy he brought illegal immigration to the fore, in a manner they could not possibly have done. What they also saw was an opportunity to stop what some saw as the inevitable nomination of Jeb Bush. Trump almost immediately weakened Bush and pretty much destroyed him during the early part of the campaign. The wailing we now see from some of the more conservative commentators on the radio was nowhere to be found shortly after Trump entered the race. All were content to see Jeb Bush be crushed by Trump and by Bush’s own lousy campaigning.

So what have we learned? If you have the means to cut what you perceive to be a dangerous candidate off at the knees, you better do it before that candidate gets to build up a head of steam. Hildebeast made this mistake against Obama. We may be seeing a repetition of this mistake with Trump. Both parties on our side of the fence had the goods on Trump, but chose not to use those goods until way too late. As of now, I think the only way Trump loses the nomination is if he pulls out of the race on his own.

I suspected the housing market collapse when I read your link. So I did a easy look and I quote this excerpt from Time:

"Within a year and a half, Trump Mortgage had closed shop. The would-be lending powerhouse was done in by timing (the housing market cratered in 2007) and ironically enough, given Trump's Apprentice TV show, poor hiring,"

Many other reports on that failure say the same thing. Some leave the effects of the housing market collapse completely out. The lying by omission is typical stuff by the Lame Stream Media. Some suggest that taking on a lending institution is very difficult if it is not done right. The poor hiring suggests there was some mismanagement that needed more close scrutiny. I suspect that Trump may have thought he could create a completely autonomous operation and let it do its thing without too much of his involvement. That part, I just don't have time for the research.

I’m waiting to hear something that I disagree with.
