One summer's evening, a skinny, not-particularly athletic boy, perhaps eleven years old, scored the most glorious touchdown of his life. This was not a real game. My friend and I, along with his older brother Phil, were just tossing a ball around in the park. But it was a memorable triumph because I scored my touchdown by outmaneuvering Phil with a head fake, and then outrunning him for half the length of the field. It was almost too easy!

...today, addressing myself to any Trump supporters who are not already lost to the irrational anger he feeds on -- please don't scream about "righteous anger," as if I don't know the difference between justice and wrath -- I pose three simple questions:
(1) Don't you get the strange feeling that this has all been suspiciously easy?
snip
(2) Don't you find it odd that Trump, who habitually says the harshest, crudest, vilest things he can think of about anyone he perceives as an opponent or threat, never substantively criticizes the key players in the establishment at all?
snip
(3) If you were Rove, McConnell, and the rest of the GOP elite, and you wanted to end the growing grassroots threat to your power and influence once and for all, how would you go about it?

Reading the articles is frowned upon. Get over it.
You misspelled "dental", Washi:
--> "You probably went into too much dental, though."
There's no way to "paper over" your error, now, though... LOL! :)
Thus proving your reprogramming complete.
The globalist dream of no more wars and such because we are all on the same side is a stupid pipe dream. The developing world will go along until it is no longer profitable to them and when the party is over, it’s over, and guess WHAT asshat? You are not going to be the recipient of gratitude!
I am sad to say that I mostly agree with your view. On more than one occasion I’ve exclaimed that the republic is toast. But I also know that installing a strongman is not what made this country great. Limited govt did.
I am fond of the line from A Man for All Seasons. “And when the last law was down, and the Devil turned round on you, where would you hide, Roper, the laws all being flat? “
This comes to mind when I heard Trump say he was going to loosen the libel laws. The NYSlimes et alii can take care of themselves but what about you and me? And then there’s is that little development in Europe where people are prosecuted for slander for reading the Koran to the “wrong” audiences. Like Trump would make it possible for Obama’s words to come true: “The future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam.”
If Trump does not fit the working definition of capitalist crony what does? There is no moral high ground for the sleaze ball trying to buy political favors as Trump openly admits he has always done. He is just as morally bankrupt and evil as the politicians willing to sell their political favors to the highest bidder. An honest person can admit that.

They're all the same article - they just change a few words and repost.
Former freeper TBP was shown "the egress" just this week after it was discovered that he was a member of an organization that practiced this behavior.
Well, bye, TBP. :)
You’re right. The libel laws thing is a problem. One thing though, that doesn’t fall under the authority of the president.
LOL!
That was to keep the press busy over this weekend, AND to suck the oxygen away from the C-RuzBio campaigns.
It worked, and you yourself fell for it. :)
What doesn’t fall under the authority of the president is of no consequence to presidents who promise to use EOs knowing that Congresses and Courts will roll over.
Trump knows darn well the libel laws won't change.
He wanted to have the Media DeathStar fulminating about it all weekend, instead of giving the eCubans an opening.
Plus, most of his supporters and would-be supporters HATE the Media.
It Doesn't Matter!
We Don't Care!
It's Just Good Business!
That about covers any truth presented on Donald Trump.
Swallowing the baited hook deeper, Sully?
Thought you were smarter than that. :)
Jonescu has written some creditable stuff in the past, but his TDS has clearly led him into the weeds with this one.
Who are the "key players in the Establishment"?
If Jeb Bush was one didn't Donald Trump already attack him?
Ditto with Rubio?
If Rove is an Establishment player, didn't his comments on George W. Bush take care of that?
If Mitch McConnell is one, he's criticized Trump enough for both of them.
Given that, what are the chances that Trump will be McConnell's obedient lap dog?
And his vendetta against Krauthammer and Fox News -- doesn't that count?
Sure, Trump could be a disaster, but people get really sick of hearing Ted Cruz or Rich Lowry talk over and over again about the Establishment like they're not a part of it.
The world doesn't revolve around the Ted Cruz-Mitch McConnell axis of mutual hatred.
Trump MIGHT be an Establishment agent.
We KNOW that Cruz is in the pocket of Goldman Sachs.
We KNOW that Rubio is an Establishment candidate.
In such a case, go with the most entertaining one. If I’m screwed anyway, might as well get some laughs out of it.
What is Trump’s plan to “Make America Great”? Build a wall? Cruz has argued for that for years. Hire foreigners to do the jobs Americans won’t do? That is what Trump says he DOES!
My SIL is a wounded vet (90% disability) of Iraq, and he is treated fine. I retired after 25+ years in. Nephew is currently in, as are the husbands of both nieces. My two oldest were in and got pretty good education benefits.
“Our manufacturing jobs are going to Foreign Countries” - and Trump’s plan is what?
“Health Care is to expensive and climbing higher almost every month” - and Trump’s plan is: “I’ll talk with doctors, hospitals, and it will be great. Best ever!”
From one of your links:
“If you are single and earn less than $25,000, or married and jointly earn less than $50,000, you will not owe any income tax. That removes nearly 75 million households over 50% from the income tax rolls.”
Maybe Trump didn’t notice, but almost all of those people get the Earned Income Tax Credit, providing up to $6,000 in “tax refund” to people who have paid nothing in already. Trump is all talk, but his talk is not connected to reality.
Now that we've established that Trump isn't pals with Rove or McConnell, what about that "growing grassroots threat"? If the GOPe wanted to eliminate that, couldn't they just have let Cruz get the nomination and then pick up the pieces after the country massively repudiates him? That seems like a lot less trouble and a lot less risk.
Good comment. In addition, Trump is a nbc, the two Cubans are not. And Trump has accomplished a great deal in life, the other two have nothing to show. Then there is the Gang of 8 and recent NYT expose.
4)isn’t it amazing that Trump is beating the GOPe at its own game.
