All these threads each week go up: why are you actually voting for Trump? Can't anyone explain to me why you, so many of you, hear our heartfelt careful explanations, and never even respond or register that it might be so that our elections are an establishment game?
Isn't it obvious by now that our government is more responsive to a sort of cabal of powerful global entities than to our aged parchment under glass in DC? Our Constitution IS our country. Our representatives all the way up to President (especially President) pretty much ignore it.
For a long time, we, the People have been presented, red, white and blue streamers included, with elections every four years to help us feel a part of the system. But our choices have been covered by this cabal, with bought or controllable candidates on each side of the Uniparty. Sure, we can choose, but only among these. Any true candidate not owned by the uniparty already (or a "sure sale" after the election) is painstakingly removed from the menu by their subservient media.
The media work for whoever controls everything, and it sure isn't a government by, for, and of the people. Do you really think it still is? Part of the reason they don't teach civics in schools any more, not just because they don't want Americans to know about their Gd-given rights, is because students would LAUGH at the lies in our founding documents at this point. How could they not? Clearly we are serfs to a ruling entity at this point, and you cannot argue otherwise.
We haven't had a Presidential candidate feared BY THE RULERS since Ronald Reagan. Right now, the greedy powers that be own Hillary and Rubio, and though it's a long shot for him to win the nom, they believe they can get to and own Cruz as well. They can't get to Trump. His family is independently wealthy and protected. He is not playing along with their lying rule over us, and they are scared and vicious in their attempts to stop him. They also have little sway over Sanders but they figure they will knock him out.
The game they play on little old We, the conservative People is: Stick with your principles. Vote your principles. Find the perfect conservative and vote for him.
It's a useless game. They have the end covered. It is to make us feel good. It doesn't affect their election. Not voting for the guy who might be able to beat back their takeover, who might lead a new generation of people ready to fight rather than just suck at their phony teats, only helps them.
Do you really think that when you die you will be rewarded for voting for a candidate for President who had no chance of winning but clung to a religion, didn't cheat on his spouse, and seemed to match more conservative criteria, over voting for someone to free the country from serfdom to an elite cabal?
It does make some difference. Somehow Reagan got in.
Sex is the coin of the realm in politics.
I have a sneaking suspicion Bill Clinton was sucking up to Trump to get close to some of the hotties in Trump’s beauty pageants.
I hope Trump was savvy enough to have his associates keep a paper trail.
It’s pointless to try and reach the Cruzies/Trump haters. They’ve been burned once too often and are afraid to trust anyone with big plans. Especially someone who isn’t a career politician/lawyer.
They’d rather settle for Ted Cruz being “consistent” and “reliable” because he has smaller plans that they think might be doable. It’s really gutless of them.
Cruz wasn’t saying anything until Trump showed him what was acceptable to say. And then he spoke up. This didn’t happen just once as we know, but many, many times.
As I’ve said before, Cruz is a chisel. Trump is a jackhammer. We need a jackhammer.
Do you really believe Trump is willing to alienate those who fill his hotels and golf courses?
You are owned by the establishment if you consider yourself a member of the party without taking an active road. It’s not who votes. But rather who counts them.
In this country unless you are in the senior levels of the party, you are simply a pawn.

Trump has not only shown a willingness to fight the establishment, of which the top tier we can see is the GOPe, however, they are really just doing the bidding of the real establishment. But he is also willing to take on the fourth column, as well as, insidious political correctness. Ted Cruz could not even begin to attack these structures. Cruz also would have been unable to effectively attack immigration issues. In reality Ted Cruz's appeal does not command support much beyond those of us who embrace conservatism. If Ted ever really had a legitimate chance he would be leading in the polls. He isn't because the support is not there. You may think it's all because of Trump. That if he were absent Ted Cruz would be leading. I have my doubts that is the case, simply because I think the conservative portion of the base is smaller than we need to be successful. Time to be honest about that reality.
Eminent Domain exists for a very good reason, and one that does need to be used judiciously. Not necessarily sparingly, but definitely judiciously. While it's ttrue hat Trump benefited from the use of eminent domain, it is also true that many others also benefited. I am not referring to other big cats, but rather ordinary folks who benefited from jobs created as a result of that eminent domain.
Statements are just that, statements. Trying to pin down someone on statements is a fool's errand because many people make statements for affect rather than in sincerity. Threatening an opponent is just part of the political process. Trump knows he can't win a case like that, but perhaps he can make his opponent blink..
Bottom line, this is the big leagues. You either play to win or you don't bother becoming engaged in the first place. Trump is without question in for the win. Hopefully those of us who support him are correct and his detractors incorrect. It really is our only true shot though. For better or worse Trump is the one. A sad reality perhaps, but a reality nonetheless. Let's pray for the best, and if our prayers are not answered than a higher authority is sending a very clear message.
Didn't read the article, then?
Cruz has been a career politician since the Bush admin. And he’s yet another lawyer/politician. His wife’s work on the American Union planning with the CFR is stunningly disturbing.
LOL -- checked off those boxes long ago!
Seriously, I agree with your essay and despair of the hard-hearted but demonstrably underinformed posters who believe their emotions instead of doing the research. Smart and accomplished people are so often disbelieved, slimed and accused of the exact opposite of what they are doing, have done, and announce that they intend to do.
It's sad to see people spit on this last chance for liberty in this country because they no longer experience liberty. Some never have in their lifetime, because they were born after the 60s. Others will not defend it unless it comes to them in a dream, dressed in a choir robe with a halo on top.
what article would that be? the one the FR poster wrote?
If you are concerned about the constitution then vote Ted Cruz. If you want a petty wannabe dictator vote Trump.
I may never have experienced true liberty but I thought we were in it. And I want it back.
It is sad to see that some here just want to play the game the oligarchy has set up: pick YOUR President.... From among THESE people we own.... Don’t look at that racist clown over there.... He’s not what you want... We’ll mock you if you vote for him...
We need to wake up.
If you are concerned about the constitution then vote Ted Cruz. If you want a petty wannabe dictator vote Trump.
Ok, can you please explain why?
The current situation is that a “ruling class” owns this country, makes or doesn’t allow laws, and ignores the constitution unless it’s very helpful to their greedy desires. That IS like living under a dictator, really, except that we don’t have one man but a group of people running things.
So how would Cruz give us back our sovereignty, but Trump would become a dictator? I don’t get it. Also, voting for Cruz means the Dem would win. Cruz doesn’t yet know how to win a lot of votes. That is also a problem.
I was taught to question authority, I believe there is no political solution, and generally I’m a cynic.
You can see who’s in the power group by who’s behind global warming..today Warren Buffet came out. I haven’t heard any of the GOP candidates positions..but maybe I’ve missed them.
There is no vacuum, there is no perfect political scenario that is lasting due to human nature, but we should keep moving toward our constitution and that is a good guide to keeping the American people free.
I don’t agree with any of your statements or premises. Thus it’s rather futile to try and talk with you. I will say one thing you may wish to consider is that Trump is a spoiled petty billionaire. He has always been a dictator. That’s all he knows. Have a nice evening.
Well said and I am with you.
