It's appearing obvious that Trump will win South Carolina, and logic would tend to indicate that that makes him the odds-on favorite to win the Republican nomination (baring any GOPe dirty tricks at the convention).
While I will gladly vote for Trump over Clinton or Sanders, I'm still disheartened.
Ever since the last day of Reagan's administration, America has been in need of conservative leadership.
GHW Bush's squishiness gave us Clinton.
GW Bush barely won election. I'm glad he was in office after 9/11 instead of Gore, but he loaded us up with tons of debt and a lot of government growth. He also gave us Obama.
McCain was a squish and got his ass handed to him in Obama's first term.
Romney was a squish and got his ass handed to him in Obama's second term. Even Obama was surprised he won that one after the destruction he wrought in his first term.
Now, our chance has come.
On the democrat side, we have a nasty, entitled, corrupt, untrustworthy, unlikable, old hag and a grungy, mooching, old, socialist running for office.
On the republican side, we have a solidly conservative, well spoken, highly informed candidate that isn't afraid to stand up to the GOPe and fight for conservative causes. It's what we ALL have been waiting for.
We've ALL thought that we could win the presidency and right the wrongs of the past few decades of creeping socialism if we would just put a true conservative up as our nominee in the general.
Well, this is our chance. But, we're about to piss it away.
I think I understand the appeal of Trump. People are pissed and Trump has tapped into that. But this is a time for thinking, not feeling. Trump is a demagogue. People want to be on "Team Trump" because he's loud, proud, and unapologetic. But, Trump is also practicing a scorched Earth campaign of character assassination against Cruz in order to win the nomination for himself, and his whipped up supporters are dog-piling on anyone who dares to point out the emperor's lack of clothes.
Two years from now, when we discover that all of the red flags and warnings being blared by Trump's past positions and statements really are an accurate representation of Trump, and we find that "campaign" Trump was just that, we will kick ourselves when we realize that we had our chance, perhaps our last, to nominate the true conservative we had all been waiting for, and we screwed it up.
Turning a blind eye to Trump's liberal leanings just because he says the things we want to hear, and helps us express our dissatisfaction with the status-quo, doesn't make his leanings any less liberal.
We've said that electing a conservative could set us back on the right track.
We have, right now, a chance that we won't have again for a very, very long time. A chance to prove we were right.
But we're about to blow it.
LOL. You're way over your personal pronoun allowance, Washy:
They’ll be home, sitting on their petty, petulant asses, reading a good book.
Disgusting.
No. But she has been barking.
Well said: I predict two years from now (if they are even the tiniest bit conservative) most of Trump’s die hard supporters WILL be cursing him for betraying us.
lol
May I suggest you re-read Atlas Shrugged?
Hank was willing to die and destroy his business rather than sacrifice his principles.
Trump is no Reardon.
Reardon did not donate money to the enemies of freedom.
So Cruz’s apology (multiple times to Ben Carson) wasn’t good enough for you, eh?
hey, your side might have won, but you alienated me in the process.or
You're just a bit to far on the right.
But if Trump doesn't win, I'm still going out to vote. I'm writing in Trump though.
Isn't that why they call it a "vanity" ? :)
“Ever since the last day of Reagan’s administration, America has been in need of conservative leadership.”
At this point we need a tourniquet on the arterial bleeding even more than we need conservatism.
A vote hasn’t even been cast and you’re ready to surrender?
This attitude gave us McCain and Romney. And for the record Trump may not be the Conservative you want, but he’s an America First Patriot.
And if CRUZ were up there I would gladly vote for him over that pile of garbage amnesty pimp empty suit Rubio... And I expect the same from Cruz supports in regards to Trump.
Lets cut the back and forth and get on task folks... We have a Civilization to save!
cruise is no saint. hidis goldman sux, CFR exposure, his VOTER VIOLATION, carson campaign suspension, his failure to disclose loans including goldman sux. Dirty.
I agree..if you told me a registered NY Democrat that contributed to Hillary Clinton, Schumer, Reid, Kerry, Rangel and others with hundreds of thousanda of dollars who praised Obama’s Stimulus Package and supported the bailouts..was the so-called frontrunner for the Republican nomination (he’ll lose SC)..and is acting like an outsider..I would gave said your nuts but here we find life stranger than fiction. Andrew Breitbart called it in 2011..he said Trump is not a conservative and warned about celebrity candidates.
His campaign has been run very poorly. His sleazy antics have severely jaded my opinion of him, and I'm sure I'm not alone. And on top of that, he has not risen to the level of the so called world's greatest debater one time.
That saddest thing is that he is still doing quite well. Which tells us that if he had the character that most thought he had, he would have probably been in command right now instead of posting photo shopped ads of fellow republicans.
There’s that. And then there’s his off putting speaking voice which is a cross of Sunday morning preacher and a poor attempt at imitating President Reagan. He does not come off as genuine.
If you review the timeline, even after CNN gave multiple responses to correct the first misunderstanding
....the Cruz team kept running with their agenda
....and achieved their ill gotten gain
One phone call to the Carson team would have dispelled the mix up.
I have no illusions about Trump. He's probably socially extremely liberal, though I believe he's (mostly) against abortion. I'd bet good money he has no moral objections to homosexuality and that his Christianity is about as deep as the average mainline protestant who makes an appearance at church twice a year, plus weddings and funerals.
But I do have faith in Trump's love for himself. His ego will motivate him to keep his word on his most popular promises: Close the borders, make tough trade deals and get the economy moving again. Only the last one is iffy, simply because Trump is no economist and there's a lot of bad advice even on the conservative side of the fence.
But closing the borders is so important I really don't care about much else. End the invasion and we'll have plenty of time to move the culture back towards the right side of social issues. Leave them open and we'll be like Sweden, overrun with savages with the American minority apologizing for being alive.

Your observations are NOT crazily biased and I stand with you too!
Trump, no.
I held my nose for Mclame, and Romney ... never again. If America wants to elect another RINO, they will do it without my vote.
