CNN chief national correspondent John King predicted that if President Barack Obama can't get his Supreme Court nominee through the Senate, he'll argue "that Republicans blocked him because he's the first African-American president, and they didn't give it to him because of his race" on Tuesday's broadcast of "AC360."
King said, "[T]he president will take this in two phases. Number one, is he will fight for his pick. He'll fight for his pick because he thinks he deserves to make the pick, and he'll fight for his pick because, he knows, if he get to appoints the replacement for Antonin Scalia, not only a larger than life figure on the court, and an intellectual powerhouse for the conservatives, but it would tip the court from a conservative 5 -4 majority, to a progressive, or liberal 5-4 majority.

These journalism majors are the most brilliant among us.
The real question though, is, will the Senate pubbies cave?
And,,,,,I’m OK with that.
He already calls conservatives racists. Idiotic article.
And yes, the GOP-e Senate will cave. There are not enough conservatives or observant voters to keep them staunchly against Soetoro.
You mean like the Racist Dems who still to this day call Clarance Thomas every single disgusting racist name in the book
Too bad that Senate Republicans will cower and flinch like puppies that have been swatted with a newspaper at that thought, though.
"So What?!" should have been their rallying cry, from the start.
They call us racists because they catch us breathing The Black Man’s Oxygen.
I don’t care any more.
Dog bites man, sun rises in the east, 0bama plays the Race Card,...
He’s been doing that since before 2008.
So what else is new?
Even Hillary was saying similar.
No surprise there, either.
BREAKING NEWS.....CNN FIGURES OUT OBAMA PLAYBOOK.....
And why did they confirm the execrable So-So and Kegan (the most overturned judge on the left coast circuit and the left-wing equivalent of W's Harriet Myers)? Neither of those appointees has any business even clerking for a supreme court justice, let alone sitting on the bench, yet the pubbies went along and confirmed those two embarrassments. The race card argument won't fly after that.
“that Republicans blocked him because he’s the first African-American president, and they didn’t give it to him because of his race”
Hell, that race card is getting very old. so call me a
racist” so what??
We didn’t give it to him because his pick sucked(who ever it is).
John you been drinking again? Send out your resume and get on your track shoes as you sprint, not walk, back these comments.
The Senate NEEDS advice more than it is able to GIVE advice, at this weird point in US history, with it being less a set of seasoned state-selected solons and more a direct popular grab.
Why not a FReeper brainstorm on who we’d want. Many different angles could be considered including slipping by the P.C. barrier (like Thomas did, if only barely).
If by some weird miracle, Barack went along with it, why should we complain, though it might well be something that has to wait for the next president. Since this is replacing Scalia, maybe Barack could be persuaded to leave things at status quo ideologically to avoid a total run for the doors by would-be Democrat voters on the fence.
Who’s the only major ethnic group not represented. Maybe American Indian. Wouldn’t it be a hoot to get a conservative “Chief” justice? And so what if he was biased towards American Indian affairs... they’ve been getting the shaft for centuries.
What we never pray for, we never get.
Fortunately the Ds have redefined the word “racist” to a point that people don’t care. I used to mean someone did something bad. Now it means a white person disagrees with someone who’s not white and it’s very likely a valid disagreement.
Oh the humanity.... Please don’t use the most over used word in the media that today rarely actually applies.
Will the Senate pubbies cave?
They always have.
We have a Black justice good luck with calling us racist!!!
Which is why I think Loretta Lynch will be Obama’s pick. Black, female, and recently confirmed by the GOPe-controlled senate for DOJ. The perfect uni-party pick.
Oh please. Even Ginsburg is better than Aunt Loretta.
