The publisher of a new critical edition of Mein Kampf has said that more copies of the Adolf Hitler manifesto will have to be printed due to enormous demand.
"It's available like any other book, but because of the special circumstances there is a certain waiting time," a spokeswoman for the Institute of Contemporary History (IfZ) in Munich said.
The IfZ published its annotated version of Hitler's infamous text at the start of this year, saying that it wanted to make sure a critical version was available as soon as the copyright expired. ...

Probably. Germany still has very stringent laws banning all things Nazi.
Everyone should keep in mind this is a CRITICAL, ANNOTATED edition--pointing out the evil nonsense in that book. I'm sure this edition would infuriate the neo-Nazis (and would have gotten the editors executed if published 75 years ago!)

I am a long time Kindle user, and kindle reads PDFs, but Amazon makes the ability to load PDFs into Kindles such a pain that normal people can't deal with it. Free PDF readers abound...

Since the subject is not religion, but secular politics, what I (or you) think is irrelevant. Injecting religion into the confusion is inappropriate and legitimizes the inponderable issue of "is islam a religion?" or a substitute for our Constitution?.
Not only was it "simply unavailable" (because "out of print") - anyone attempting to bring in copies of it from outside Germany was subjected to intense scrutiny and required to justify themselves.
Thus, the commercial market was dead. (Because commercial vendors just didn't see the value of bothering.)
Additionally, anyone discovered (e.g., by customs officials) bringing in a privately-owned copy would, of course, been made to "pass through the gauntlet." He would have been required to demonstrate that his copy was a "critically annotated" edition - i.e., one containing abundant footnotes decrying Hitler as a madman.
Hence, it was essentially unprocurable.

Contents of the work.
Yes, contents of the work which are the contents of one warped mind that infected a number of others, and took advantage of a people dissatisfied with their government. Again my comment wasn’t that the Germans would rise against the Jews or even the muslims, but that their government screwing over its own people would allow, as the last time a rise of a hitler like personality.
One of the worst books I’ve ever tried to read.
Actually Mein Kamph is based on the koran. Hitler loved the muslims during his time - they had just about every thing in common except language and who got to be the master race.
It was not “dissatisfaction with the government” which cued Herr H, but the humiliation of WW I and the horrible economic conditions of those days - neither of which apply today.
I read it several times to try to understand the hate.
I suspect German readers read it for another reason

(hey, it’s got pictures, “Mein Kampf’’ doesn’t.) Or muddled Nazi Party ‘’philosopher’’ Alfred Rosenbergs’s “Myth Of The Twentieth Century’’? Yes, there a whole host of Nazi swill ripe for reprinting. On Rosenbergs tract however even Hitler found it ‘’too dull and confusing to read’’. Coming from the Big Guy himself that’s quite a book review.

Unfortunately, we have the same sort of dissatisfaction in the US today. If the wrong charismatic person were to say just the right things, the masses would respond--and I don't mean the parasite class.
