Now that the NFL playoff scene is set, the 12 teams still playing this season will battle for the Super Bowl championship and the risk-seeking fans will begin making wagers on their pick to win it all.
Monday, the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook unveiled its Super Bowl odds, placing the Cardinals, Panthers and defending-champion Patriots as the favorites at 9-2. The Steelers' 8-1 odds of hoisting the Vince Lombardi Trophy rank sixth-best in the league third among AFC teams.
Despite winning the AFC South, the battered Texans have the lowest odds at 60 to 1.
Here's a full breakdown of the odds:
New England Patriots: 9-2
Carolina Panthers: 9-2
Arizona Cardinals: 9-2
Denver Broncos: 5-1
Seattle Seahawks: 5-1
Pittsburgh Steelers: 8-1

The forecast high of zero degrees for the Vikings-Seahawks game on Sunday at TCF Bank Stadium would make it the coldest home playoff game in team history and among the frostiest in NFL history.
There have been only nine games in league history where the high temperature during the game never got above zero.
The Vikings’ coldest playoff game at Met Stadium was 9 degrees in 1970 against Chicago. Their coldest game, -2 against Chicago, was the sixth most frigid in NFL history.
The coldest NFL game was the “Ice Bowl,†the league’s title game between Green Bay and Dallas at Lambeau Field on New Year’s Eve in 1967. The temperature was -13 and wind chills hit -48.
NBC broadcaster Cris Collinsworth, who will be calling Sunday’s game, likes to refer to the coldest game by windchill in league history. Collinsworth played for the Bengals when they beat San Diego on Jan. 10, 1982 at Riverfront Stadium for the AFC title when the temp was -9 and wind chills hit -59.

Hmm, Wash is 40-1, Houston 60-1. If this were an exacta in horse racing, it would pay over $1000 (over 500-1), either way, 60-1 Houston winning or 40-1 Wash winning.
Looked up Welker, he signed with the Rams in November. Thought it was stupid that the Pats did not work something out with him after 2012.

I just saw something on the news about that guy - that is his real body! I thought it was some muscle suit, but he used to be a professional body builder or something. Just saw where he was in some local car lot ad on TV too!
Sitting in the stands sounds rough as well.
I grew up in Minnesota and was a big fan of the Vikings. There was a good video of the Vikings from back in the day (late 60’s?) where they show highlights and interviews from the cold-weather days. (I can’t find it now.)
But they said they would come out on the field with short-sleeves and pick at their scabs to get them bleeding before the game even started, with big mad-eyed grins on their faces.
And usually around the third quarter the wind would shift around to the open end of the stadium, and the flags would start to flap and that cold wind picking up. And they would start chanting “ODIN, ODIN, ODIN....”
That was years ago. On the local Seattle station they were talking about some player the Vikings hired this year. He signed on, and then a bit later talking with his personal manager - “What? We’re playing outdoors!? In %&$#-ing Minnesota!?”
Obviously they probably have gotten used to it. That said - go Seahawks! (And don’t forget to pack the long-johns!)

I agree it is an uphill battle, but...it is the playoffs. All you have to do is win two games (as long as you aren’t the wildcard) and anything can happen...
I really liked Welker, tough and gutsy player...sad to see him leave, but I am not surprised things happened the way they did.
In the end, the Patriots made the right choice from a football perspective, but as a fan, I wished it had gone down differently.
It is a truism around here with Pats fans that Bill Belichick generally gets rid of a player a year too early rather than a year too late. Sometimes I hate that approach (Wilfork is best example) but most often, I can’t argue with it. Most of the time he is proven correct in his assessment.
Phil Simms is part of the announce team that is calling the Super Bowl. As far as I know, he still refuses to use the word “Redskins”.
Before the owner of the Redskins accepts the Vince Lombardi trophy he should say to whomever is handing it him, “Say our name! Say our name Beeeooootttccchhhh!”
And the NBA ignores all the great players that played before the 80s. Basketball starts with Michael Jordan and all that came in the 80s and after. None of the great players of the 60s and 70s and before could hold a candle to Lebron James, Jordan and the rest. Jerry West was no good, Wilt Chamberlain, Bill Russell, Cousy, Maravich, Baylor, all were bums, not to be mentioned in the same breath with today’s players. Oscar Robertson averaged a triple double for his career, but he was no where as good as Jordan, as Curry. Well I’m 65 years old and I remember all the great Celtic teams and Laker teams of the 1960s and their players were every bit as good as these overpaid gangbangers that pass for basketball players today.

Seahawks still have the tendency to not show up. They won 5 games in a roll then two weeks ago the Rams had no problem with them and beat them for the second time this season. Pressure on Wilson is the way to beat Seattle. So goes Wilson, so goes Seattle.
