A herd of elk was hit by a train east of Helena Thursday morning, killing 23 animals.
The crash occurred near the intersection of U.S. Highway 12 and Spokane Creek Road, about three miles east of East Helena.

It is sad news because elk herds along with caribou are being decimated by the huge gray wolf brought down from Canada to replace the timber wolf.
The new species is huge, and far more aggressive than the timber wolf.
Deer and elk are at all time lows, they almost cancelled the deer hunt in the
UP this last fall.
In British Columbia native tribes are airlifting out pregnant caribou to allow them to give birth safely. But the herds are mostly beyond recovery even after shooting some 200 wolves from helicopters.
Oregon was wise to get out from under the feds and take on their own wolf management. We’re hoping to do the same here in the Great Lakes region soon.

Make no mistake, they want all rural land free of hunting,ranching and humans in that order. The Seattle city council is trying to eliminate the zone of single family homes period. They want to add floors to apartment buildings and have everyone live in those. This is agenda 21 in its prime.
Predators are great ways to make ranching losses so severe that ranchers give up. The feds are pushing Washington state to take grizzlies and Wa officials are not happy.
