Due to a plethora of reasons, there are at least ten countries which may not survive the next 20 years. Although the list concocted by Top Lists remains highly speculative, it is worth knowing which nations may become extinct.

I was gonna say, “a plethora of pinatas”. But you know, watching that clip, I didn’t really remember it exactly as it was. Of course, I like my way better.

I would not call ISIS a country.

This list is incredibly stupid. For example, China’s most seri exous problems are not what this list suggests. Besides, even if the current dynasty collapses and the borders change, a Han nation of China will still exist.

Spain

Would be a peaceful partition, with Catalonia breaking away. Big deal! No substantial international impact.

North Korea

Might implode, but even then, foreign powers would be loath to intercede and attempt to deal with the remnants.

Belgium

Again, would be a peaceful partition with no international impact.

China

Not likely. Even if it came to armed conflicts, I'm betting that the forces holding the country together would prevail.

Iraq

Is it still a country now?

Libya

Don't know.

ISIS

If one recognizes ISIS as being a sovereign state (which I wouldn't), then one should also talk about Transnistria, Abkhasia, South Ossetia, Somaliland, etc.

the UK

Like Spain and Belgium.

the USA

No.

the Maldives

Who cares?

Further countries that deserve to be on this list: the Russian Federation, South Sudan, Syria, etc.

Regards,

This list is incredibly stupid.

That was actually my first thought as well. But then I upgraded the list from "incredibly stupid" to "wildly speculative". And that's because I considered the Soviet Union. In a few short years the Soviet Union went from being a powerful centralized police state to, well, not even existing.

Interesting analysis yours. And the one I most agree with is your NO on the USA. I can't imagine any President - even a Reaganesque one - allowing a state to just leave the Union. No President wants to be another Buchanan.

A state could leave the Union if a new Constitutional amendment allowed for it. But DC would pull out all stops to prevent such an amendment from being ratified. Bribes, threats, whatever it would take.

And no, no state is just gonna leave via armed insurrection. South Carolina found that out back in 1865.

I think of ISIS is like Marxism. Not a country, a dangerous sociopolitical mindset.

If you take a moment and look at the aims and goals of the Shia Twelver sect in Iran you will see they want nukes for something other than self-defense. All the ruling mullahs belong to this sect and, are in fact the movers and shakers, so to mix a metaphor, of the sect.

They only care about NK as a help mate in achieving their nuclear ambitions. They would not care, except for the loss of those ‘hidden’ assets in NK, if the country disappeared under an landslide of China’s PLA.

There used to be an Iranian Feeper, Alan, who was an ex-pat Iranian from the Shaw’s time who warned about the coming acquisition and use of nukes by the mullahs. (I think he passed away now).

“China may not survive as it is. The Central government is having and increasingly hard time controlling the provinces. There will still be a China not just not like today”

Agree. There are already swaths of the interior and west that’s referred to as the “semi-autonomous regions. Their economy is becoming ever more bimodal. The poor come to the big cities and see all affluence and want a piece of the pie.

Pollution is going to bring China down? What’s going to happen, are maggots going to eat the earth and make it disappear? The Maldives, going to dive into the ocean due to global warming?

It’s leftist drivel. Plus no matter who makes a prediction, they seldom come true.

I would add Honduras but only for the now out of control crime rate due to drug manufacturing and trafficking.......

Martial law needs to be declared and all currently imprisoned drug dealers need to be executed as an example to those still on the streets.......

American’s should not be so smug as to think the U.S., as we have known it, will remain unscathed. Odumbo has succeeded in changing us in horrific ways and, the bastard still has one year to go.
