Did you know that the Millennium Falcon's cockpit was inspired by the WWII B-29 Superfortress bomber?
Well, the iconic greenhouse-style window of the Millennium Falcon was designed with the style of the Boeing B-29 Superfortress, a strategic bomber flying 30 years before Han Solo and Chewbacca first appeared driving the iconic spacecraft into the hyperspace, in mind.

We had the pleasure of seeing FiFi (The Last B-29) along with B17s, a Hughes Constellation, a Lancaster and some DC 3s all take to the air in succession at the Wings of Eagles Airshow..heaven!
From Wiki:
The attack on the Death Star in the climax of the film Star Wars is a deliberate and acknowledged homage to the climactic sequence of The Dam Busters. In the former film, rebel pilots have to fly through a trench while evading enemy fire and fire a proton torpedo at a precise distance from the target to destroy the entire base with a single explosion; if one run fails, another run must be made by a different pilot. In addition to the similarity of the scenes, some of the dialogue is nearly identical. Star Wars also ends with an Elgarian-style march, like The Dam Busters.
Did you know the Millennium Falcon’s cockpit was suppose to rotate and the ship would fly on it’s side not flat

Did you know that Lucas’ staff was having a hard time coming up with a design for the Falcon and an exasperated Lucas held up the hamburger he’d just taken a bit out of and said “make it look like this”?
