Georgia has fired coach Mark Richt, according to various reports.
ESPN.comâs Mark Schlabach was the first to report the move.
Georgia will hold a press conference on Monday.
Richt was 145-51 in 15 seasons with the Bulldogs, including a 9-3 record this year. The Bulldogs defeated Georgia Tech on Saturday to end the regular season

PING
9-3 and they kick him to the curb? I hope the next coach they hire goes 4-8 his first season. Would serve ‘em right.

With a 9-3 record aren’t they going to a bowl game? But then won’t have their coach for the bowl game???
He’s “stepping down” after the bowl game.
No good deed goes unpunished?
Nebraska fired 2 “nine a season” winning coaches. It got worse.
Unemployment won’t cover his water bill...
Auburn needs to sack their defense coach after yesterday’s performance, IMHO. Guy has ‘issues’.
Can somebody write the lyrics to fit from that song/parody:
“15 years/ 15 beers”??
Musical coaches. I admit whenever I watch a game I try to pick the “doomed” coaches using their demeanor as they lose.
UGA fans are the most delusional I’ve ever encountered, certain that every national championship is theirs for merely walking onto the field. Now they have chased off the best football coach they ever had, and the finest man and shaper of young men blessed to play for him. None of the yahoos who chased him off are at the very peaks of their own professions, but they are only satisfied when their Dawgs are at the very top. How hypocritical, and how shallow. Those bitter losers will never be satisfied, and will turn on the next coach in time. Mark Richt deserves better, and some school is going to hire a real gem.
Wow - he’s got a great record. Hard to compete in the SEC and he’s done a bang up job. SC, GA, Misery will have new coaches in the SEC East next season.
Maybe they should hire Strong away from Texas and see if it works out as well for the Dogs as it did for the Horns.
Boy I agree. He was downright embarrassing. And he hurt his team.
Must have had a Bible verse posted someplace on his desk or wherever.
Sounds like Bulldog fans can’t come to grips with the fact that Herschel Walker wasn’t typical of the Georgia High School running backs.
They want Kirby Smart in there... Badly.
